Dude, where's my Kardur!

I've toyed a lot with superfriends decks, usually as five color decks. Something I've always had issues with though is protecting them. This is why I've chosen Kardur, Doomscourge as the commander. It does limit the decks colors substantially but it also protects my walkers from the command zone. I think the trade off is worth it as I like a lot of the Rakdos walkers anyways. Arguably not the most powerful but instead of doing weird things the walkers themselves are able to directly kill my opponents. Chandra, Awakened Inferno in particular is rather funny to me, even if I get knocked out of the game I'll keep doing damage.

As for Kardur himself. Once he ETBs my opponent's creatures are goaded regardless of when they ETB until my next turn. This is, imo, a much stronger goad effect than Marisi, Breaker of the Coil. I was looking hard between these 2 but Marisi just seems to require a lot of extra effort over Kardur. I just need Conjurer's Closet with Kardur and if the closet gets blown up I have walkers like Daretti, Scrap Savant to pull it back. Where the interactions between Marisi and walkers didn't seem to be as supportive. Marisi arguably has the better colors I will admit but with the additional difficulty of goading with him makes his purpose less potent.

To go with the goading of Kardur I decided to add in a group hug theme of sorts. With cards like Hunted Horror I will give my opponents creatures to attack each other with. They might even get to sac them for value or possibly block with them on occasion. So these are things I have to keep in mind and make sure I don't go overboard with hugs.

Goading itself gets weaker as a game drags on making my commander less useful towards the end. This is also when walkers tend to be at their strongest. So the overall strategy seems to all feed into itself as long as I'm not totally disrupted. That can always happen of course lol.

Mana: Things which cheat costs or produce mana.

Card Advantage: Things which draw cards or find specific cards.

Removal: Things which remove one or more opponent's resources.

Huggers: Things that give my opponents more resources.

Extra ETBs: Things that allow me to repeat ETB effects.

Other: Things which are too small in number for their own category.

Mountain and Swamp because basic lands.

Rakdos Signet, Sol Ring, and Arcane Signet some fast mana.

Curse of Opulence with all the attacking that should happen this gives my opponents a good target and me more value.

Cursed Mirror a mana rock that can also be Kardur or another creature with an ETB effect.

Dockside Extortionist this deck is looking to repeat ETB effects so I should be able to abuse this guy multiple times.

Forbidden Orchard a little hugging along with either color I need.

Honor-Worn Shaku turns every planeswalker into a mana rock without stopping them from using their abilities.

Karn's Bastion a source of the oh so strong proliferate.

Liliana of the Dark Realms and Koth of the Hammer some of the few walkers able to produce quite a lot of mana.

Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle because I have a decent number of mountains here.

Chandra, Torch of Defiance she can immediately pay back half the mana used to cast her or even better she can be impulse draw that does something regardless of if the card is cast or not. Her last two abilities work as pretty nice removal for medium to small creatures. So very many things will die to 4 damage. Can't count on getting to the emblem but if it happens that's a free spell with every spell cast.

Court of Ambition and Court of Ire if their only effect was to grant the Monarchy then I'd call them overcosted but along with card draw they'll dole out life loss or damage. One even causes discard if my opponent's are silly. With my commander's goad ability holding the monarch should be simple. Even if it gets passed around though, that just means there is additional incentive to attack that person.

Daretti, Scrap Savant a number of strong support cards in this deck take the form of artifacts. Artifacts that are likely to be destroyed like Conjurer's Closet and The Chain Veil. Daretti will help those things stick around.

Karn, Scion of Urza the +1 of this walker effectively reads draw 2 cards. This is pretty amazing card draw.

Liliana Vess it's midly annoying that the tutor is to the top of library but the ability to control your draws to this degree is pretty incredible. That she also hurts my opponent's advantage and has some slim chance to reanimate everything is again pretty cool.

Liliana, Dreadhorde General she creates tokens to protect herself and has strong removal abilities on top of a crazy draw ability. It doesn't even matter why my creatures die, she still is just like "DRAW CARDS, STUPID!" lol.

Ob Nixilis Reignited at a base this is just draw a card every turn. Added bonus of destroying some real threats and maybe possibly perhaps dropping an emblem to harass that Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind player.

Professor Onyx Not just card draw but card selection out of the top three. Interacts with her Liliana kin by filling the graveyard and kills everyone's largest power. Not always the best thing to kill but better than being allowed to select a useless token to sac.

Tevesh Szat, Doom of Fools +1 to draw 2 cards consistently and might even work as a good sac outlet for Kardur allowing me to draw 3 and then reanimate or recast him to repeat the ETB. Overall just works really nicely here.

Ugin, the Ineffable A bit of mana reduction for some of the deck's best support effects and consistent draw. Running both Ugins is never bad.

Yawgmoth, Thran Physician proliferates, draws, sacrifices, even acts as removal. What's not to like?

Blasphemous Act Great board wipe, can easily cost just ! Also acts as a possible combo piece with Repercussion.

Chandra, Flame's Fury cast Shock every turn to zap away small annoyances or even go for the 4 damage to a creature. A pretty nice amount to be doing with so many 4 toughness creatures. Even a slim chance to combo with Repercussion.

Daretti, Ingenious Iconoclast consistent destruction every turn or every other turn.

Disrupt Decorum not exactly removal but a back up goad card to the commander. Goad will often result in one or more things being removed.

Karn Liberated exile a permanent consistently. BTW "consistently" is something I'll say a lot with walkers around. As long as they stick, and they should in general, they will keep doing their thing turn after turn.

Liliana, Death Mage Consistent removal and reanimation.

Ob Nixilis, the Hate-Twisted an interesting one. If I really need something destroyed, he can do that. If I want to assist an opponent that has a useless creature, he can do that. If I want to draw cards off of a useless creature, he can do that too. Also hampers those decks that draw too many cards... Pretty useful overall.

Sudden Spoiling Like Disrupt Decorum this doesn't directly remove anything. However, the effect of the card is just ridiculous. Split Second and removes abilities and makes everything 0/2! This always makes for a very unhappy player.

Tibalt, Cosmic Impostor   Unlikely to be grave hate but can be grave hate. Back out of the clouds this is a strong consistent exile effect and with the emblem can also give me a few extra things to play if I really want them.

Ugin, the Spirit Dragon 3 damage is nothing to sneeze at and if things are looking really rough this is a very strong board wipe.

The overall purpose of these cards is to supply my opponents with creatures to that I can goad.

Clackbridge Troll has the added benefit of card draw if an opponent feels truly threatened by up to 8 damage xD

Curse of Disturbance this not only gives me goad targets it gives me tokens too. Not all bad.

Hunted Dragon and Hunted Horror pretty standard for the effect I desire here. ETB give an opponent some creatures.

Slaughter Specialist like the Hunted creatures but 1 token for everyone.

Varchild's War-Riders an interesting one to have. Keeps giving opponents larger and larger token armies until I decide not to.

Varchild, Betrayer of Kjeldor should make some survivors, not expecting a lot of them directly from Varchild but I'm curious to see her in play.

Blade of Selves oh you wanted more ETB effects? HERE'S THREE MORE!!! GO GO GO! lol

Conjurer's Closet just a nice simple consistent effect to get more ETBs.

Flamerush Rider an attacking copy because why not?

Helm of the Host make me Kardur and keep me Kardurs

Kardur's Vicious Return frankly, just a flavor choice but reanimation is another great way to cause extra ETB effects.

Kaya's Ghostform oh you thought you could use 1 removal spell, think again ;)

Lithoform Engine just more of literally everything!

Splinter Twin tap that for more of that.

Sword of Hearth and Home not only do I get to repeat an ETB I get to accelerate my mana.

Victimize sac 1 useless creature to get back 2 useful creatures. I'm really considering putting this card in every deck that has black. The value is crazy.

Angrath, the Flame-Chained steal creatures and sacktap opponents turn after turn xD

Bedlam with everyone always attacking and no blocks allowed ever this card should accelerate a game towards ending. It is counter to Repercussion however...

Chandra, Acolyte of Flame places loyalty on all red walkers, almost as good as proliferating my walkers.

Chandra, Awakened Inferno the best emblem in the game. It's easy to get multiple of it and they just keep dinging my opponents even when I'm out of the game.

Chandra, Flame's Catalyst goes deeper into that group slug style with dinging everyone for 3 points until it can grab me a new hand.

Throne of Geth, Sword of Truth and Justice, Contagion Clasp and Contagion Engine just nice proliferate effects for planeswalker decks. Can also work with the hug theme by upping counters on opponent's things or hurt opponents further with the negative counters some of them pass out.

Kazuul, Tyrant of the Cliffs alternative protective effect to my commander also an interesting synergy with my commander in 1v1. I wouldn't recommend doing that though...

Liliana, Death's Majesty consistent reanimation effect.

Liliana, Waker of the Dead another one that builds mostly on that group slug theme.

Liliana, the Last Hope the real goal with this one is to get the emblem. Don't really care about the other effects, just want an army of zombies to keep building and building. It turns into an inevitable win con pretty easily.

Ob Nixilis of the Black Oath another that builds into the group slug theme. Also a really strong token and emblem if I happen to get it.

Repercussion really just a combo piece but with folks always attacking it makes blocking a more interesting prospect.

Rings of Brighthearth copy abilities, mainly from walkers.

Sorin Markov plays into the group slug theme by dropping folks to 10 life. Quite the scary effect, particularly if you were to already have something like Chandra, Awakened Inferno or Flame's Catalyst going.

The Chain Veil double up on walker abilities.

This is less of an exclusion from a Kardur list and more of an exclusion from a superfriends list but Doubling Season and similar effects will not be found here as they are simply in the wrong colors. I think the advantages of Kardur offset the downside of not having those. Or at least makes for a different and interesting superfriends design.

Repercussion + Blasphemous Act = 13 damage to each player multiplied by the number of creatures that player controls.

Nonbos: Even though Repercussion and Bedlam serve a similar purpose I consider them to nonbo with each other.

I haven't gotten to play the deck as of yet, should get the cards the start of May 2022 (date incase I forget to change this). Despite that I expect a lot of hate to get directed my way while playing this. At the same time I expect my opponents to have significant difficulties directing real threats my way. A lot of my meta is creature based even if those creatures don't normally attack this should be forcing attacks almost every turn by every one.

Get Kardur, Doomscourge into play, get Conjurer's Closet or another ETB engine, play planeswalkers. Opponents will be damaged by creatures they play or get supplied to them by Hunted Horror and pals and by walkers like Chandra, Awakened Inferno. This isn't going to be a fast deck but it should consistently cause everyone a headache and consistently be pushing damage.
