Ur-Dragon, Ur-Rules

Commander / EDH Dragons

InSanor

The previous version of this deck abused the Scion of Ur-dragon, but after tweaking and updating the deck, I decided that it was time for the scion to move aside, as the one and the Original Ur-dragon stepped on the commander's throne. There are pros and cons in this swap and of course I probably should use Dragon Engine instead, as it is strong as hell. I can swap them around if I so desire, so it's not a biggie.

The base idea this time is simple; overwhelm everything with the might of dragons. It has a somewhat slow start, but if you get the wheel of draconic might rolling, it will be relatively easy to gain card advantage and clear power advantage to make your opponents question that do they really want to take the risk and take in your scaly boys' wrath or just wait for a better moment. There are also tools to raise your army of hungry dragons after the inevitable board wipes too.

And if I really need to play in a more competitive table, I swap Scion in, accompanied with his best friend Skithiryx. Or other funny tricks, which some of them are mentioned below.

This is most likely not the best version of this type of deck perhaps, as I tried to make it powerful enough for it to feel competitive but not so powerful that it makes everyone to quit after I reveal which deck I am playing with. (Also I don't have the money to get those actually good lands in any time soon~) There are several funny combos that I am aware of, like Bear Umbra + Hellkite Charger for infinite combat, Worldgorger Dragon+Animate Dead for some weird infinite loops. And of course we should not forget to mention the more famous one, one that this deck used to oneshot a player out with some ability stack shenanigans; Scion of the Ur-Dragon + Moltensteel Dragon + Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon. Great tools as they may be, I decided to not use those. Maybe because of the ease of those combos or because I didn't ever feel satisfied wining with some really easy 2-3 card combos. (Except when rest of the people were using similar tactics of course, or in an actual tournament where wining actually matters.) However Animate Dead + Worldgorger is funny and stupid enough for me to try it perhaps.

It works well enough to be a danger in most battlefields. The risk here of course is that you may seem too dangerous.. and that could (and usually will) lead your opponents to conclusion that you and your flying, overfed lizards need to be put down. But that's the same with every deck with a strong looking field, with dragons it just feels to be easier for players to understand the gravity of the upcoming danger.

Each player has own preferences on what scaled beasts they want to put in, some of the players even put non-dragons in like Sheoldred, Whispering One or Gisela, Blade of Goldnight which indeed are cool and good.. but I'm too puritan when it comes to tribal decks. I feel slightly irritated every time there is some non-tribal creature in my tribal deck, no matter how good it is.

Updates Add

Well, some new cards has been added, but mostly it is the same deck. The thing with dragons is that there is a huge selection of cards to choose from and this time the swaps were mainly because I wanted to brighten my deck with something new.
