Miirym, Sentinel Wyrm

Legendary Creature — Dragon Spirit

Flying, ward (When this becomes the target of a spell or ability an opponent controls, counter it unless that player pays .)

Whenever another nontoken Dragon enters the battlefield under your control, create a token that's a copy of it, except the token isn't legendary if that Dragon is legendary.

TypicalTimmy on Has Anyone Tried a Multi …

That's kind of how my friends and I largely played for the past 10 years, up until very recently.

I use to have a group of friends that would all bring multiple decks. We'd play a game, retire the deck and pick another one. It even got to the point we would sleeve everything in black and put them all in black UltraPro boxes and shuffle the decks around into a pile and randomly pick, so literally nobody knew what anybody was playing. At one point it was so crazy that we went with a new rule.

You draw seven cards face down and take it. You aren't allowed to look until it's your first turn. You literally keep whatever your first hand is, no matter what.

Made for very intense games. Also was a ton of fun when someone would discover something about a deck you built that you didn't even realize.

I miss those days. Now all I've got left is a single Miirym, Sentinel Wyrm deck and a few disheveled precons strewn about, and I only have one friend who plays in person anymore. To make matters worse, our schedules seldom align so we really only see each other maybe once every two or three months now.

Realistically, I haven't even bought Magic in probably close to two and a half years, except for an occasional precon here or there. It simply isn't worth the time and effort and expense anymore for me.

The only thing that keeps me in the hobby anymore is the custom card forum here on Tappedout which, let's be honest, only has like 5 other participants. :/

Legendary Creature - Human Elf Mutant Wizard

Whenever another nontoken permanent enters the battlefield under any players control, each opponent creates a token copy of it.

Ahh, at long last... Perfection.

Awesome challenge!!

Repeat, and use This link to make anagrams! :D

Protip: Use a card with a long name and multiple vowels. It'll make it a lot easier ;)

Bonus points if you make a card using Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar

Well, perhaps my favorite Commander is Miirym, Sentinel Wyrm and I think you all know my favorite plane is Tarkir. So that seems rather fitting.

Miirym, Tarkir's Soul

Legendary Creature - Dragon Spirit

Flying, Ward

You may look at the top card of your library at any time and spend any color mana to cast Dragon spells from it.

Whenever you cast a Dragon spell from anywhere that isn't your hand, copy that spell. It enters the battlefield as a non legendary token copy.

That's dirty.

I wanted to blend the ferocity and tenacity of Temur with the power and grace of Jeskai.

I am honestly surprised how many users enjoy this challenge so let's keep it going

PhyrexianHellkite on 50$ Budget The Ur-Dragon

I have tested creatures/cards like that in the past and don't like the staying power or what they are adding to this deck. The creature versions get board-wiped the fastest and don't tend to extend the deck past extra mana available, so I prefer to start getting bigger game impact dragons out and only ramp via land ramp and some artifacts. Mainly to help with my mana fixing, draw, and one sided board-wipes. See the list of cards that those would not interact with other than Scaled Nurturer, that one gets the dragon pass but not card draw and would take up one of the 30 dragon slots. Garruk's Uprising, Elemental Bond, Frontier Siege, Wrathful Red Dragon, Silumgar, the Drifting Death, Rith, Liberated Primeval, Miirym, Sentinel Wyrm, Lathliss, Dragon Queen, Kolaghan, the Storm's Fury, Ganax, Astral Hunter, Firkraag, Cunning Instigator, Dromoka, the Eternal, Bladewing the Risen, Atarka, World Render, Haven of the Spirit Dragon, Relic of Legends, Jade Orb of Dragonkind, Carnelian Orb of Dragonkind, Crux of Fate, The Ur-Dragon

So 20 cards or 1/5th of the deck that those would not extend or interact with. Here is a link for some statistics for mana reducers that basically says if you can play cards every turn and use all mana you have as well then they work the best in those types of decks.

Is it worth it to play cost reducers in MTG EDH commander? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=prltKyeJMKI

Form about this topic https://www.reddit.com/r/EDH/comments/b3stji/cost_reducers_vs_ramp/

Thanks for the comments! Hope this gives some insight on my deck building/playing style and if you run those mana dorks/cost reducers, I think cards like can help and, I do run them in other decks with less colors or better card draw. I do think a commander like Tiamat would benefit from those to help play the tutored cards after cast and help commander tax to recast it and refill your hand. The main thing I consider is what am I swapping, and in this deck and it's mana fixing for a 5 color deck on a 50$ budget, or a potential dragon slot for a deck that wants dragons on the field attacking to start getting ramped up.

I will continue to update this deck and work to give better descriptions of my other decks as well as I build and update my commander arsenal!

Ancient Copper Dragon is pricey but very worth it in this mono red deck. Tyrant of Kher Ridges is also good and helps win with its onboard activated ability. Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx, Extraplanar Lens, and Caged Sun are excellent mono color mana enablers, although I'd recommend using Snow-Covered Mountains if you run Extraplanar Lens so that you're less likely to give opponents extra mana.

For instants, Deflecting Swat is another pricey but strong protection spell (or control to intervene in feuds between opponents).

Someday I'll make a Miirym, Sentinel Wyrm deck...I love dragons so much...

Tic12 on Astral Dragon + Dragon Tempest

I have an additional question to this. If i have Miirym, Sentinel Wyrm and Dragon Tempest on field when casting Astral Dragon, am i getting 6 times 4 damage and 14 times 7 damage to distribute? So in total this would bring 122 Damage to the table.

First stack:

  1. Dragon Tempest

  2. Miirym, Sentinel Wyrm trigger

  3. Astral Dragon trigger -> this brings 2 additional Dragon Tempest, resulting in 6 Dragon Tempest triggers seeing 4 dragons

Then the Miirym, Sentinel Wyrm trigger resolves, giving you two more Dragon Tempest for a total of 5, resulting into a total of 14 Dragon Tempest trigger (1 for the first Astral Dragon, 3 for the second Astral Dragon and 10 for the last 2 tokens) each seeing 7 dragons.

Am i right here or was i getting lost somewhere?

Gleeock on EDH - Kill 1 opponent …

Well the last salty situation I was in was playing someone's Minsc & Boo, Timeless Heroes deck against them. They had a Miirym, Sentinel Wyrm deck popping off & Terror of the Peaks to boot - those megathreats all got returned to hand by someone else (with onboard haste). Instead of using the draw function I just aggro killed him somewhat early with the hamster... It is funny, sometimes I just acknowledge someone with a "yep"/"killing you is still the plan" & when I just acknowledge, then move on they will almost start to talk themselves into a really convincing argument for why player elimination was the right move. Often enough I get the "I had X & Y waiting in hand" & I just go: "you are not making me feel worse about making sure that didn't happen" :) It is just kindof funny how 80% of these individuals just want to vent some sort of closure & when they've said their piece, usually, you can let their own words sink in. This is an outlier situation as well, I usually just use equal Machiavellian strategy without cutting any deals & usually without needing to offer much rationale & typically it is just an accepted thing.

Hi soul_knightmare, Thanks for your comment :) While looking through my deck, i saw, i already added Yavimaya Coast^^

Bred for the Hunt and Guardian Project are already on my wants-list, Mystic Remora is a nice tipp, i'm still not sure, i like the card that much. But i will give it a try. Same for Fact or Fiction.

Psychic Possession seems very expensive with cmc 4. On my list is Cold-Eyed Selkie, which i want to try out soon.

Lands are a generell problem, cause i also have a Miirym, Sentinel Wyrm and a Go-Shintai of Life's Origin deck, which also need green-blue-Lands. But i put your suggestions into my list, it's always work in progress.
