This is my first commander deck I built about a year ago and I've been having a blast piloting it and fine tuning it as I go.

My Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord deck is a creature based Golgari-graveyard deck that wants to sacrifice cratures to Jarad to drain all our opponents' lives at once. Mine focuses on self-mill and recursion. We want our games on the longer, grindier side to get the most value.

Buried Alive is a super-star card here. Use it to tutor Life from the Loam , Stinkweed Imp, and Dakmor Salvage to the graveyard so we can start milling as soon as possible. Hermit Druid is another mill all star that can make sure you hit your land drops as well. I took out Elixir of Immortality and replaced it with Perpetual Timepiece. Nyx Weaver mills us two during our upkeep and we can tap Skull Prophet to mill two or for either of our colors.

With all the self mill, recursion is a thing so we have cards like Acolyte of Affliction, Eternal Witness, and Genesis. Genesis is a great card that lets you pay 2 during your upkeep to return a creature to your hand. This is a good creature to pitch to Survival of the Fittest.

I've had really good luck reloading my hand with Seasons Past. I take it over cards like Praetor's Councel because it's cheaper mana cost and goes back in your library.

I have used big splashy creatures like Rune-Scarred Demon, Sheoldred, Whispering One, and Butcher of Malakir before but I'm in a blue heavy playgroup and those become feel bads when countered. Carpet of Flowers and Veil of Summer can be used if you are in a counterspell heavy meta. You can add Greater Good for card draw.

Mikaeus, the Unhallowed makes all our sacrifices hurt a little more and be a little more annoying with undying.

The Gitrog Monster is a great Lieutenant, super card draw engine and 6/6 Deathtouch is nothing to scoff at. Meanwhile all the lands you are putting in the graveyard fuel your best fatty, Lord of Extinction You have Ramunap Excavator, World Shaper, and Life from the Loam to get your lands out of the graveyard.

Lord of Extinction is always stupid massive. I've drained the table for 60+ life before. There's also Rogue's Passage for this guy or end the game early with commander damage from Jarad and Shizo, Death's Storehouse.

This deck is midrangey but I've made it anti-durdly because of my playgroup. Life is a resource, use it to pressure. Exquisite Blood can gain you a LOT of life, fast and goes infinite with Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose. Deadbridge Chant is a fun card I've had good luck with sticking for value; even if it gets blown up right away milling yourself for 10 is great.

This is my first commander deck I have built and it is a blast to pilot!
