Retesting and Some Edits **Latest Update**

cardplayer12345, 7 years ago

After testing yesterday, I decided to make a few edits and thus far they've worked *very* well. I've moved around a few cards. I removed the W/B manland as well as the U/R manland, replaced the Rakdos bounceland, Tolaria West, and got rid of Rocky Tar Pit. They've been replaced with 4 Islands and Spirebluff Canal. I've also made the decision to include the Eggs I've been holding onto. I swapped Dispeller's Capsule, Everflowong Chalice, and Myr Retriver with Darkwater Egg, Skycloud Egg, and Shadowblood Egg. I also received Paradox Engine, got rid of Trading Post for it and haven't looked back. I also got rid of Temple of The False God which is useless if you don't have 5 lands and replaced it with Glacial Fortress. If I add some painlands, I think I could have a rather efficient machine working here. I ordered Vedalken Orrery, so all I need to do now is figure out where that goes and what I should cut. Painlands will come once I get the money to just go all-out and get them. They currently all cost as much as it did to upgrade this deck which is kinda steep for me right now. I'll be taking this deck back to my playgroup and see how it goes! Also, Blade of Selves is becoming more and more appealing after I've seen what Breya can do with the Jitte plus Carnal Plating and Nim Deathmantle (it's almost super Voltron). I can't believe I wanted to cut the Jitte yesterday. What a fool I was for thinking it was a dead card.

Down to 100 cards!

TheBreweries, 7 years ago

And the last 2 cuts have been made!!

It was a long and painful task trimming this deck down again and to make the list stronger overall, I had to remove some cards that were more fluff than value, one of which being Words of Wilding. While this can reliably make us a bear token every turn, it sacrifices our draw and in these colours it feels rather rare to draw a card ... that being said, I could probably do with finding room for Soul of the Harvest

Obelisk of Urd is tribal and it does stuff, but a static +2/+2 is a little underwhelming overall, especially at 6 mana, regardless of convoke.

So there we have it!

Last minute decision, remove Sylvan Scrying for Soul of the Harvest

New sets, new tweaks!

Shamanic Revelation --> Rishkar's Expertise

I figured it's easier to draw five cards for having one creature on the field, rather than trying to keep five creatures on the field to draw five cards.

XMage Test

Test 1: Played 4 games, 2 against Goglari Delirium, 1 against Blue/White Control and 1 against White/Black Stockpile and won all games. Against White/Black Stockpile lost game 1, sideboarded Temur and won the other 2 games by using mass removal spells

I switched out Phyrexian Metamorph for Clever Impersonator because it makes this deck cheaper to finish and help avoids destroy target artifact effects

First Game Day Score

Deputy_Cofax, 7 years ago

First run of the deck at a Game Day in my local shop was very successful. The match results were 3-1.

Match 1: 2-0 against an all islands Battle of Wits deck so the win wasn't too hard to pull off cause I just killed him before T5.

Match 2: 2-1 against a dredge deck. He won game 1, but then I subbed in Rest in Peace and won the next 2

Match 3: 1-2 against an affinity deck. This was a situation of "whoever goes first wins", and he won the roll for first so he got games 1 and 3.

Match 4: 2-0 against R/G Tron. The first game she drew poorly and couldn't set up Tron fast enough, and the second game I just exiled anything big that she summoned with Path to Exile and Selesnya Charm.

Manabase tweak

thisjourneyends, 7 years ago

- OUT: Horizon Canopy. IN: Ghost Quarter. I haven't been satisfied with Horizon Canopy, and have been taking a lot of damage from it over the course of games. I think 5 green sources is enough. Long term, I think I would swap the 2nd Forest or Razorverge Thicket for a Brushlands.

Mythic Overkill

Liquidbeaver, 7 years ago

The deck is running pretty smoothly right now, with only a few awkward spots here and there that I haven't figured out how to tighten up.

I had a bunch of fantastic draws lategame during a Forge playtest, and decided to run with the deck to see just how ridiculous I could get it to go. I ended up getting a trophy for my best Mythic Overkill and best Life Total, at -722k and 722k. Three rounds of Illusionist's Bracers and Rings of Brighthearth, with Door of Destinies, Coat of Arms, and Whip of Erebos out made for the largest swing yet. All of it was made possible by a Crawlspace that the AI wasn't drawing an answer to, so I could sit back for a few turns and build up a huge swarm of rats (~450).

This deck is definitely the one I am the most proud of, and it is still a lot of fun to play every time. I am always looking for suggestions, whether they are for theme, or power, or just consistency.

Artifact Tutor Change

Wiinsomniacs, 7 years ago

So I replaced Ring of Three Wishes with Planar Bridge today. I always used Ring to get both or one of the Seedborn Muse + Vedalken Orrery synergy, then the final wish for Planar Portal. Here, we just get them straight into play instead now, and I still have Planar Portal for getting things that aren't permanents.

Also side case, it's useful for dropping utility lands like Maze of Ith on turns that aren't mine.

Sideboard Change

varygoode, 7 years ago

I'm not going to change the list, but expecting some Storm leads me to do the following to the board: -1 Anger of the Gods -1 Rest in Peace +2 Leyline of Sanctity
