Soul Link Discussion

Kogarashi on does lifelink stack?

Spirit Loop and Soul Link would be two more examples where it's a triggered ability and thus stackable.

A creature with lifelink, Armadillo Cloak , Spirit Loop , and Soul Link could gain you life four times for each instance of damage dealt.

Might just be me, but I can't conceivably picture Yawgmoth outside of mono-black given the lore implications and in-game cards referencing Yawgmoth.

I believe the only two white cards referencing Yawgmoth in flavor text are Death Grasp and Soul Link , but the white isn't necessarily depicting Yawgmoth as much as it does Urza in these cards. Through a similar vein, the only other cards outside of mono-black that mention Yawgmoth in flavor text are of a Grixis shell with the exception of Pernicious Deed . Even then, none of which outright depict Yawgmoth outside of mono-black because they're often portraying other characters for the color pairings. Every card that namely references Yawgmoth in the title is mono-black, so I just can't quite see him being anything else besides that.

Any depiction outside of Yawgmoth, Thran Physician era Yawgmoth is either going to be overpowered or underrepresented as well. I would even argue the face card he did get undersold him marginally. The tricky thing with Urza and Yawgmoth is that they're such powerful entities that I'm surprised they actually got a face card in the first place.

Snap157, thanks for the praise, mah dude! you are absolutely spot on with the link. and when I have some to spare I think they are going in there. for now, even though it's a tad more costly, I think Soul Link can fill that spot pretty well. stay frosty, dude!

Oooh! I love Near-Death Experience! Finally a place to put the shiny (and very warped) FTV version I have! Will have to add that, Fortune Thief, and Angel's Grace as soon as I can.

Suns_Champion, ya I got a lot of those in, but you did point out a couple I missed. Comeuppance seems sweet, as effectively a wrath for one opponent, and fetchable with Sunforger (which I had been considering, but left out bc I didn't know if I had enough cards to get with it. I'm adding it after I add Comeuppance and maybe some of those Fogs). I already had Selfless Squire, Worship, and Rakdos Charm. Not a huge fan of Deflecting Palm here, as in my meta the only time it'll do a ton of damage is after a Craterhoof Behemoth resolves or something similar. Wrath of Goad seems at the very least a lot of fun. And a tad more damage prevention would probably be smart, so Gisela, Blade of Goldnight or something similar should be in here (Is Protection of the Hekma is probably too little for too much mana. Maybe Ajani Steadfast for the ult? His other abilities might be a good wincon, either by slowly getting in with Marchesa or pumping up a ton of tokens).

DrukenReaps: Gonna read through your deck as soon as I post this. I know Aikido is a much better version of what I'm trying to do here, but my playgroup always tries to kill me first, so politics isn't my strong point.

cdkime: As I said above, thanks so much for suggesting Near-Death Experience! Didn't even think about that. I'll test Soul Link and the others, since as I said above I do need a little more damage prevention so I don't just force people to kill me. On that note, the Fogs might make their way in, starting with Batwing Brume and Pollen Lullaby. Darkness and Holy Day will really only be considered if I go with the Paradox Engine idea, but I'll have to make sure I have enough instants w/ CMC 2 or 1 for Isochron Scepter, and enough cards that will make Paradox Engine useful elsewhere. Or maybe I just add a lot more tutors.

Thanks everyone for so much support on this deck so far!

Soul Link, Spirit Link, and Vampiric Link are unusual cards that you might find helpful. You can throw these auras on an enemy creature and be the recipient of the lifegain the aura grants. This effectively provides you immunity from that creature's damage, as you would gain as much life as you would lose.

Near-Death Experience is a possible win condition alongside Worship

It might be useful to add Paradox Engine and Isochron Scepter alongside fogs (Darkness, Holy Day, Pollen Lullaby). This will give allow you to gain immunity each turn, as well as use your mana rocks to infinitely activate cards such as Basandra, Battle Seraph. Angel's Grace could be a fun one to use, particularly alongside Near-Death Experience.
