Choosing a Commander

The Mimeoplasm is a classic. I love graveyard-centric decks, and I already own a Golgari deck (I make it a rule not to make decks of the same color identity). Therefore, Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord was out of the equation. So I turned to the next best option: Sultai colors.

There are two well-known Sultai commanders that are based around a dredge strategy: Sidisi BT and Mimeo. Being more interested in reanimator and voltron, naturally The Mimeoplasm was the card of choice for me.

Muldrotha and Jarad have found their way into the 99, however!

Making the Deck

I really enjoy all the fun stuff you can do with the graveyard. From reanimating and the occasional game-winning combo. This deck takes a bit of time to set up, but you can easily cruise your way into victory! I wanted to include many well-known strategies and cards in the {B}{U}{G} color combo, like Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur, Traumatize, and the Animate Dead suite!

Budget

My current budget is no more than $10 a card, unless it is an absolute bomb. Of course, I will definitely take more expensive suggestions into the maybeboard so I can keep an eye out for them. I'm very open to suggestions on additions/cuts to the deck, and I'm always looking for ways to make the deck as efficient as possible!

Notable Cards

• Victimize is an amazing card in this deck, since it sets up plays with Jarad. I even use mana forks in here as a means of having fodder for Victimize.

• Mirror-Mad Phantasm was added because I needed more means of milling a substantial number of cards in a short period of time.

• Tortured Existence is a great recursion engine! Discarding dead dredge creatures in hand for utility creatures is always a huge win in my book!

Strengths

Show

This deck is very capable of holding its own in both multiplayer and 1v1 pods and isn't 100% reliable on its commander. Worst-case, you can just beat face with a flying Lord of Extinction with Wonder in grave! There isn't one specific gameplan in this deck, and you're able to switch playstyles depending on the hand you're dealt!

Weaknesses

Show

There is one big weakness this deck has: grave hate. Not limited to Leyline of the Void, Rest in Peace, Grafdigger's Cage, and Bojuka Bog.

Some of these cards are hard to answer, so always play around them if you know someone has one. More permanent-based GY hate is easier to deal with since you just need to use removal.
