Core Conceit

Marisi, Breaker of the Coil encourages a combat centered, creature focused deck. This started wanting to build a angel tribal deck, and I'm pretty happy with the way it evolved yet stayed true to the original feeling.

The budget came in under $200, though many of these cards I already owned.

I've seen a few builds out there that aren't really appealing to me. I'm not trying to make a pillow-fort deck with Ghostly Prison like effects, or a control deck with Gaddock Teeg , Thalia, Heretic Cathar , and Hushwing Gryff . Both of these archetypes are hard to play against and tend to earn ire with the players at the table, something I'm not too keen on doing. There is also a solid option of going down the creature token route. Going wider than your opponents' blockers is a pretty good way to get that goad trigger. But token decks are a known strategy and I've been down that road. Once you've built one token deck you've built them all. Both of these strategies have slightly been introduced with cards like Windborn Muse and Luminarch Ascension but notice that these provide creatures with flying to push the main theme.

Angels! Aurelia, the Warleader is my favorite card in magic, hands down. I opened her up in my first pre-release and from that day forward I've been an avowed member of the Boros Legion, (much to my chagrin once I picked up EDH). Now with green to feed mana and card draw, a combat heavy deck, lots of creatures that want to attack often, Aurelia, the Warleader escapes my trade binder!!! Finally!!!

Piloting

The lower end of the curve is filled with cheap creatures with evasion like, Dryad Sophisticate , Silhana Ledgewalker , and Tin Street Dodger and ramp to get Marisi, Breaker of the Coil and get the goad on lock ASAP. Keep the gas going with card draw, Neheb, Dreadhorde Champion , Hunter's Insight , Soul's magesty, and Rishkar's Expertise . Keep the dream alive with protective cards like Sigarda, Host of Herons and Shalai, Voice of Plenty . Then end it with Triumph of the Hordes or Beastmaster Ascension .

Notable Inclusions

Nature's Will and Aggravated Assault - Both are great on their own in this deck. Together they combo if you have a creature that can't be blocked.

Gisela, Blade of Goldnight - Is a win condition in and of herself with Marisi on the field.

Sunblast Angel - Beautiful in this deck. If you are goading she is a one-sided boardwipe. Also is a 4/5 flyer for more goading!

Duelist's Heritage - A fun card, not only buffing your creatures but your opponents goaded creatures as well!

Soltari Guerrillas and Soltari Visionary - Shadow practically reads, can't block or be blocked. Both of these power goad and provide removal all while doing damage. Per attack!

Loyal Unicorn and Iroas, God of Victory - Both give us confidence when attacking with our creatures. Pointyboi saves our board for defense against a ungoaded creatures or creatures with haste while Iroas makes us harder to block.

I could use some advice on the land. This area of magic is not my forte. I kinda just hit up EDH rec and include everything in colors under ~$5. If you have any suggestions, I would love to read your comments and update this deck as it goes.
