Dromar, The Esper Strikes Back

I finally joined The Dark Side and built a blue controlish deck. This is also the first deck I've ever attempted that doesn't rely on the green crutch for ramp. I picked Dromar over Sen Triplets for the commander partly due to cost ($$$), partly because of the huge amount of hate it draws, and partly because Dromar is a pretty solid win condition if I don't draw any threats. A 6/6 for 6 with flying and a pretty good conditional sweeper is nothing to sneeze at.

The deck has a Flicker sub-theme, with the main flicker engines being Deadeye Navigator, Conjurer's Closet, Venser, the Sojourner, and Parallax Wave. I've replaced a few of my spells with creatures that do the same thing when they enter the battlefield to abuse this more. Parallax Wave is kind of a Swiss Army Knife as far as this deck is concerned. I can use it just as a flicker engine, to protect my creatures from removal, to keep my creatures safe while I boardwipe, and to stall out my opponents. I can also use Venser, the Sojourner to reset Parallax Wave and blink several creatures each turn.

Leyline of Anticipation is seriously one of the best cards in the deck. Having the ability to keep my mana open for counters or removal and still play my other spells on the end step before I untap is insane. It even gives my creatures a sort of pseudo-haste and gives my opponents a very limited window to deal with threats.

Out:

1 Tolaria West

1 Land Tax

1 Terminus

In:

1 Magister of Worth

1 Ob Nixilis, Unshackled

1 Strip Mine

Notes:

I needed a few cards for another deck I'm putting together and I'd just recently won a Conspiracy Draft with a foil Magister of Worth, so I definitely wanted to make room for that somewhere for sentimental reasons. It's got an EtB effect so this is a great home for it. Opened Ob Nixilis, Unshackled at a sealed event for my bud's Bachelor Party, so that goes in as well.
