Death may be the greatest of all human blessings. -Socrates

Erebos, God of the Dead agrees with that philosophy, 100%. But why stop at just humans? Erebos thinks it’s pretty neato to have everything experience death. So let’s kill a lot, as a gift. Kill and make sacrifices happen. Creature oppression is the name of the game. Sacrifice, murder, exile, it’s all fair with mono black.

Strategy:

1) Use both abilities of Erebos to keep your opponents from gaining any life, and to draw cards until you can combo out.

2) Control your opponent’s creatures with tons of removal, many different ways, until you can combo out

3) Tutor for matching pieces of your combos, until you can combo out

4) Wait for it........Combo out!

There are 3 infinite combos in the deck:

Mikaeus, the Unhallowed + Triskelion

Helm of Obedience + Leyline of the Void

Exquisite Blood + Sanguine Bond

So, basically, hold of the board by not allowing them to have creatures, or gain life. When you get a piece to a combo, go find the other piece. Most of the combo pieces are pretty decent, on their own. This makes tutoring for a specific piece, when you don’t have any to start with, really determined by each individual game. Plenty of stall or excel, at your disposal.

Tutors that can grab Combo pieces:

Demonic Tutor

Vampiric Tutor

Mastermind's Acquisition

Beseech the Queen

Diabolic Intent

Rune-Scarred Demon

Razaketh, the Foulblooded

Diabolic Revelation-Get the whole combo

Insidious Dreams-Also, to go get an entire combo

Another fun little combo in this deck is Necropotence + Venser's Journal. Pay life to draw cards, then get all that life back at the beginning of your next turn. Seems good. Just be carful about paying too much life, it’ll get yah.

This deck also produces a large amount of mana, on a consistent basis. Killing the table with Torment of Hailfire or Exsanguinate, is not uncommon in any way. With lands like Cabal Coffers, Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth, Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx, Deserted Temple, Thespian Stage, and Petrified Field (to get any one of those lands back), lots of mana is never far away. Another mana-hero in the deck is Black Market. Since to theme of the deck is to put your opponents creatures into the graveyard from play, it seems to be perfect synergy for large amounts of black mana.

Thanks for taking the time to check out this deck, more synergy descriptions are to come.
