Ygra, Eater of All – those poor rabbits. What did they ever do to Ygra?

Those rabbits didn’t do anything to Sarulf, Realm Eater either. How dare you!

With Kill Switch, are you required to untap it at upkeep?

I see that you are playing food token generators like Gilded Goose, but no food token doublers like Peregrin Took. Any reason?

Looking through the list of possible creatures with MV7 or greater, there are some real haymakers. As that's not what you asked for, just let me drop Nyxbloom Ancient. This should definitely be in here if you can afford it.

Regarding instant and sorceries, scryfall spit out at least some cool ones:

Decree of Savagery is fine, if not turbo broken.

Explosive Welcome is nice because it basically costs 4 instead of 7.

Scour from Existence is a great removal spell for permanents your colours can't handle.

Alpha Brawl punishes one opponent with one big monster and many small creatures. I fear the day someone casts this against my Ygra, Eater of All.

Apex of Power: Now, we're getting splashy. What's better that one Raggadragga trigger? How bout two?

Crush of Wurms: 36 points of stats should be worth 9 mana. It's quite nice here.

Ezuri's Predation: I'm assuming you already had this? Great boardwipe.

Last March of the Ents: What was that about flashy stuff?

Praetor's Counsel: As I just said...

Rise of the Eldrazi: Well...

Tooth and Nail: classic.

To finish, Vivien's Invocation.

I've had a deck around Shelob for a while. It has since made room for Ygra, Eater of All, but Shelob can definitely do some rather unique things.

First, there is neat tech when having a commander with Ward. Including a number of spells like Snakeskin Veil, Fake Your Own Death and Not Dead After All always make fir great "Gotcha"s when an opponent tries to remove your commander.

Cards like Viridian Longbow are powerful for deathtouchers in general, and for Shelob, it can be easy removal. For even more shenanigans, Thornbite Staff with Longbow can be a one-sided boardwipe.

Finally, Shelob goes infinite with Devoted Druid. Just kill the druid with a spider to get an artifact that untaps infinitely to get infinite . I don't know if this works for your playgroup, but it's quite powerful. Protean Hulk can do similar things, the only problem lies within it being 7 mana to get out.

I wish you all the fun with the deck!

Finally!!! Lost one, won one yesterday evening! Let's talk about the win. I attacked turn 4 with Blim, Comedic Genius, gifting Francois, on Gyrus, Waker of Corpsesfoil, an Oni Possession. Blim, Comedic Genius never attacked again, even though I cast him for 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 mana. Later in the game, I cast a Sorcerous Spyglass and found an infinite combo in Aubrey's large grip... Exquisite Blood and Enduring Tenacity. Seeing that, I decided not to name Francois' Chainsaw nor his Lightning Greaves. Instead, I named Blighted Fen, which never seemed to matter.

Francois used Gyrus, Waker of Corpsesfoil to kill Aubrey, sending exactly enough to get 5 damage through, past his only creature, Athreos, God of Passage. I had a Tormod's Crypt out but never used it.

On my penultimate turn, at 6 life, I cast a Nefarious Lich and a Chain Reaction, taking out Tendershoot Dryad and The Gitrog, Ravenous Ride. I had about 9 cards in the yard, including AEther Flash, which had killed a Blood Artist and did a lot of work this game. A Demonic Collusion had found me a Blasphemous Act, which eventually took out Aubrey's Valgavoth, Terror Eater and several other blockers to allow Francois' kill shot on him. Auren was able to kill Francois. Auren passed turn to me while he was tapped out at 1 life with 5 tapped food, Night of the Sweets' Revenge in his graveyard, and his commander, Ygra, Eater of All making all creatures into delicious morsels. I made the ultimate top deck: Greed's Gambit. This allowed me to draw 9 cards with Nefarious Lich out. Among those nine was a Dark Petition which found me an Earthquake for the win. Finally!! Earthquake for 3 finally was enough to win the game.

Your welcome hey even got some honorable mentions

Cayth, Famed Mechanist - another trifecta for catergories artifact creatures and +1/+1 counters

Kami of Whispered Hopes or/and Accomplished Alchemist — they are mana dorks for the counters and lifegain catergory kami has way more advantage since it has a hardening scales effect

And without explanation ten other honorable mentions 1. Fathom Mage 2. Pollywog Prodigy 3. Jan Jansen, Chaos Crafter 4. Chasm Skulker 5. Mycoloth 6. The Goose Mother (brief: second hydroid Krasiss) 7. Shadrix Silverquill 8. Winding Constrictor 9. Archangel of Thune

Gonna cheat on thr last one with three but they all do the same thing for Hellkite/production

  1. Ygra, Eater of All/Mycosynth Lattice/Encroaching Mycosynth

Crow_Umbra on Is Enchantment Destruction in Black …

I'm pretty excited for Withering Torment in my Black aligned decks that don't have access to White or Green. Three mana is hefty, but it's not nearly as flexible as something like Stroke of Midnight, for a comparable CMC & rarity. I wouldn't replace Feed the Swarm, but might run it as a compliment in more Grixis leaning color combos.

Picking the option to destroy a creature feels less ideal, especially when compared to other creature-centric removal options in Black like Bitter Triumph, Go for the Throat, or Infernal Grasp. If anything, Withering Torment is just Infernal Grasp with enchantment removal stapled onto it for 1 more mana.

I'm seeing more artifact heavy commanders more frequently in my main play group, like Brenard, Ginger Sculptor, Ygra, Eater of All, a Dr. Who Historic Duo, and Rocco, Street Chef, to name a few. Given this uptick in these varied artifact strats, I'm shifting towards more artifact punishing interaction or removal, than I am enchantment focused stuff.

Idoneity on Commander Story Circle

Yesternight I went to my LGS's free-play commander event. It had been a while and I was looking forward to it. In the second round with a lovely group, I played my Bladewing the Risenfoil deck, an old and reliable favourite.

It was a slow start for us all; I did some discarding and then cast a Wheel of Fortune. Because I was against three green opponents, I was disappointed when the only dragon I drew was a Hellkite Tyrant. There were no artifacts as far as I could tell. But then I noticed something.

The wheel had drawn a foe into an Ygra, Eater of All. Everything was food and everything was dying, so it quickly became massive. But I had a beautiful Hellkite Tyrant, which was soon wearing Greaves, which had soon granted me control of all of their food creatures.

On a previous night with the same deck, an opponent had resolved a Possibility Storm, so I began casting Rummaging Goblins with the hope of hitting Utvara Hellkites.

Magic has innumerable interactions that each recontextualize the game-state, sometimes to the degree of utterly unforeseen terrain.

Do you have any stories of your deck doing something you had never designed it to do? Maybe it operated off a card you included for another purpose entirely, or maybe your opponent cast a Dream Halls and you popped off to new heights. Tell your tales!
