Sideboard

This deck is inspired by Marcurses by Bryce Miller . I was interested on how to get overwhelming splendor out in a game of EDH as soon as it was spoiled, and this deck is what I have developed. Marcurses really plays hard to the curse theme, but with this deck, I wanted to build in some chaos, control, and general mardu and monarchy goodness.

Upon copious tinkering, I slowed down a bit on the chaos and Mardu theme. From my estimate, this deck is going to be drawing and tutoring out curses like crazy (Bitterheart Witch,Curse of Misfortunes, Heliod's Pilgrim, Lost Auramancers, Mesa Enchantress, Open the Armory, Sram, Senior Edificer, and Three Dreams). Once you start playing the really fun curses, you will become a massive target of player hate, which is one reason why I have built up a strong pillow-fort (Ghostly Prison, Sphere of Safety, Marchesa's Decree, Karmic Justice, Kazuul, Tyrant of the Cliffs etc.) and added in a few cards that will force aggression. This combination will pit my opponents against each other while I curse them out of the game. I am interested in how possible it is to get a win out of this deck, because as of now, the only win-con I see is through commander damage (Helm of the Gods, Ethereal Armor, and Curse of Bloodletting). Queen Marchesa should be able to get through with a lot of damage pretty consistently though because my opponents will have their boards completely wiped ( overwhelming Splendor and Curse of Death's Hold or Doomwake Giant), or they will be all tapped due to forced attacks. One important concern is that once you've killed an opponent, all those aura's will go with them. So in a multiplayer game, the curses will have to be spread out, but not so thinly that you can't win. There are a number of more expensive cards that I have not included simply to keep the price of the deck low.

Update: 7-15-18

I have been playing this deck for awhile now and it has become one of my absolute favorites and my playgroup's most despised. I will update the list sometime in the future to match all my changes. This deck deals out hate in a way that opponents are rarely prepared for and usually wins by draining out opponents with Curse of Thirst or Trespasser's Curse, murdering them with angel tokens, or most frequently, by forcing them to concede after overwhelming Splendor hits the field on turn 5. If you want to play this deck more than once or twice, you are going to have to be in a fairly interactive playgroup as I have found that the reciprocal hate is pretty strong.
