Maybeboard

My (unfinished) take on Omnath, Locus of Rage

+1s are awesome, comments even better!

Disclaimer: This deck started out as a pile of draft-rares with a minor landfall theme and slowly developed into a more focussed deck, help me go further!

The maybeboard is full of considerations based on the other great omnath decks on T/O, though i’m not so sure i want to fully commit to that dedicated route yet: I enjoy playing all these non-synergetic haymakers like Karn Liberated , Kozilek, Butcher of Truth , Planar Bridge and Sandwurm Convergence even if the deck might be better without them. Then again, if the point is to ramp and hit landfall triggers, it’s probably best to commit, we’ll see where it ends up going with a little help from my friends.

For now the plan is:

  1. Early game: Ramp as much as possible

  2. Early- to Mid-game: ramp more and set-up some engine cards to draw more later on, be able to sac elementals, double any elementals you make, stuff like that

  3. Mid- to Late-game: Play your first pay-offs! This is what we’re here for. Omnath is a good start, but really any fatty will do to start crushing dreams and put the screws to your opponents. Be careful not to draw too much hate too early though. It might even be best to play defensively for now.

  4. Late-game: burst onto the scene with a bunch of tokens and blast everything to smithereens. Continue to win on the back of the engine cards, control the board by saccing elementals or pseudo-wrathing, etc

Cutting considerations:

Basically all non-landfall ramp, though i’m inclined to keep the ones with an asterisk

While ramping in the Early/Midgame you’ll have some time to deploy your setup cards. These cards will help you survive early turns, navigate the later turns and mostly add extra value to things you’re doing already:

There’s a lot of chaff here but i’ll work on replacing the most random stuff. Cards that are missing here and will be coming in in some combination are Elemental Bond , Kavu Lair , Goblin Bombardment , Perilous Forays , Ramunap Excavator , Purphoros, God of the Forge , Steely Resolve , Where Ancients Tread , Greater Good , Helm of the Host , Ashnod's Altar / Phyrexian Altar , Amulet of Vigor and Titania, Protector of Argoth

Any new suggestions or recommendations, even from the cards in the maybeboard are welcome. Share your experiences!

This list is FUN, but will be changed as soon as i get the chance to trade the things i want. For noe though:

How we stay on top of things

This needs a lot of work and I’d also like to keep it affordable. Fetches are obviously very important, and the rares ones that i have are in here, but any land that can create multiple triggers is great in the deck. These are:

Obviously missing are Misty Rainforest and Arid Mesa .

Gruul Turf will also make its way in here asap. The mana generated with Azusa, Lost but Seeking and Amulet of Vigor this way is unreal!

Considerations:

Let me know if you have any experience with these lands, would love to hear about it.
