Welcome to Yarok, the Desecrated EDH. Yarok is one of my favorite legendary creatures printed in the past couple years because I am probably one of the greediest players I know. Naturally, I needed to make a value-centric deck around him.

This is a greedy, value-oriented, enters-the-battlefield tiggered ability deck. There are some exceptionally powerful enters-the-battlefield triggers in MTG, and this deck wants to abuse that as much as possible. From stealing your opponents biggest threats, to making large quantities of mana, to pumping the power of your board up for a massive swing, to drawing a lot of cards, this deck wants to do it all.

You will like this deck if:

  • You are one of the greediest players you know.

  • You want to utilize powerful abilities multiple times.

  • You like slower midrange decks that try to squeeze as much value from each card as possible.

You will not like this deck if:

  • You hate it when your opponents decks are fast enough to get under your gameplan.

  • You dislike when your opponents can unravel your setup with well-timed removal.

  • You want to be playing large numbers of instants and sorceries.

Mana-centric ETB effects:

Card advantage ETB effects:

Flashy, big-plays ETB effects:

  • Avenger of Zendikar can make a LOT of plants, and they can grow very quickly as well. Synergizes well with the land-ramp based effects in the deck.

  • Agent of Treachery makes your opponents sad. Probably the card in the deck that draws the most hate, because people don't like it when you steal all their fun toys :(.

  • Phyrexian Delver can revive multiple scary threats and then you also get their cool ETBs as well. This card can hurt you a lot though if you are pulling out expensive threats from your graveyard, so play carefully.

  • Sepulchral Primordial can find you a lot of powerful creatures quickly. This card plays extremely well with Kodama of the East Tree as well. Even without Yarok on the field, these two cards have the potential to reanimate the three best creatures from your opponents graveyards as well as place three bonus permanents into play from your hand. With Yarok, this increases to up to six creatures from your opponents graveyards and up to twelve permanents into play from your hand.

  • Rampaging Baloths can very quickly build you a scary boardstate.

Go for the kill ETBs:

Because doubling the ETB value just wasn't enough:

As always, suggestions are helpful for refining decks. It is most helpful if you can suggest a card to cut for each recommended card, and perhaps a reason why you think your suggestion is better than the removed card. Finally, don't forget to hit that +1 if you liked the deck!
