My take on the ever-popular commander Atraxa. Mostly is about putting +1/+1 counters on my army of creatures, but this also gets lots of kills in with commander damage.

Big Counter Mana

Proliferating counters gives us lots of ways to ramp with counters. Like many Atraxa decks, we're running Everflowing Chalice , Coalition Relic , Astral Cornucopia , Crystalline Crawler , but I also run 4 storage lands that I don't usually see in other Atraxa decks: Saltcrusted Steppe , Calciform Pools , Dreadship Reef , and Mage-Ring Network . Having lots of mana available helps to overcome commander tax that we'll be overcoming because everyone loves targeting Atraxa. We're also running a few good mana sinks like Daghatar the Adamant , Scavenging Ooze , Viral Drake , and (the big one!) Villainous Wealth !!!!

1-Sided Board Wipes

The deck runs 4 wipes, the one that's the most fun is Mirrorweave , there are 9 non-legendary creatures in this deck with a base 0/0, which usually results in a one sided board wipe. Unlike most wipes Mirrorweave works at instant speed! We also have Inspiring Call and Cauldron of Souls to make one-sided wipes, either with our own wipes or our opponents'. We're also running Grimoire of the Dead to bring back EVERYTHING we just wiped, usually this card is too slow, but our proliferating shenanigans gets it on line much faster.

MORE Counters!!!

While this deck does NOT run Doubling Season , there are still plenty of ways to put more counters on things. Proliferating with Atraxa is great, but we're running 23 cards that put counters on other creatures (this does not include creatures that only put counters on themselves). Standout counter creators are Plaxcaster Frogling , Cathars' Crusade , Forgotten Ancient , Deepglow Skate , Kalonian Hydra and Vorel of the Hull Clade . Cards like Corpsejack Menace , Hardened Scales , Fathom Mage and Pir, Imaginative Rascal all help us make the most of each time we proliferate.
