Maybeboard

So this is a Trostani Discordant deck that has a pretty heavy emphasis on entering the battlefield triggers. It's not the main focus fo the deck so there are some ETB cards that we did not include. We will address that later.

There are three categories in this section: How to Flicker, What to Flicker, and How to protect.

So we are going to flicker our commander for tokens with Eldrazi Displacer , Felidar Guardian , Restoration Angel , Flickerwisp , Conjurer's Closet , and Eerie Interlude .

Then besides our commander, we are going to flicker a few toolbox cards. Drawing with Wall of Omens or Elvish Visionary . Recover cards with Eternal Witness , Sun Titan , Karmic Guide , Ect. We can control the board with Knight of Autumn , Manglehorn , and Reclamation Sage . Make tokens with Thragtusk and ramp with Solemn Simulacrum , Boreas Charger , and Wood Elves .

Lastly, we are going to protect our board with Teferi's Protection , Rootborn Defenses , and Heroic Intervention .

Two parts to the basic strategy here build and board state and then mow down your opponents.

Okay, Trostani both anthems our creatures and creates them. so let's start with the army Emmara, Soul of the Accord , Ghalta, Primal Hunger , Resplendent Angel , Tendershoot Dryad , Sandwurm Convergence , and March of the Multitudes create a decent number of threats.

Then to get to your opponents use Angelic Field Marshal , Mirri, Weatherlight Duelist , Shalai, Voice of Plenty , Thunderfoot Baloth , or Collective Blessing .

Alright, this deck is pretty straight forward and is super customizable just swap any of the other creatures or artifacts for your favorite cards maximize enjoyment. Simply play out and then draw cards with the draw package to refill your hand.

So why did I choose these cards instead of others? Where is X card? Why am I running Y card?

I'm glad you asked so here's the thing I'll never have a better reason than "I just didn't want too" let me explain with some examples. Hopefully these examples can give you some guidelines as to why I made the choices I did.

* Craterhoof Behemoth : Yes I know it ends games and it is good, but more often than not decks with Craterhoof drift dangerously close to tutor Craterhoof -> Play -> Win. This deck doesn't need to tutor Cratehoof every game to win. If you like the card, of course, play it, but realize this list wasn't meant to win that way.

* Temur Sabertooth : Alright, yes I know it does what the deck sets out to do flicker, but I cut it for two reasons. First, it doesn't have an immediate return on investment you have to recast the creature, and second, it draws a lot of aggro since it's the main combo piece in a lot of decks.

* Ashnod's Altar : This card turns the deck into a combo deck. Ashnod's Altar + Eldrazi Displacer + Trostani Discordant = Infinite colorless mana and 1/1 lifelink soldiers. While I play combo and enjoyed finding this interaction it doesn't win you the game. Sure you could focus your deck around this or another interaction similar, but wouldn't you prefer to just beat your opponents to death? No? Your lose.
