My attempt at a competitive Meren build. Without access to counters and removal, I've tried to supplement Meren's arsenal with discard, and a bit of land destruction, no Mikaeus, the Unhallowed + Woodfall Primus combo, just enough to be resilient. Xiahou Dun, the One-Eyed is some extra recursion for all of our black spells that can hit really hard, double Hymn to Tourach in a turn is enough to put almost any player on some serious tilt.

Play creatures, sac them for profit, get Avenger of Zendikar and Craterhoof Behemoth on the battlefield, smash serious amounts of face. Lord of Extinction and Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord is another finisher, and Genesis Wave is another back up.
