This is the second deck I ever made, since then I have been trying to optimize it. The strategy is simply to kill the opponents with combat damage. Using Kaalia’s ability demons, dragons and angels can be cheated onto the board, these definitely belong to the most powerful creature types.

The deck list contains some big flyers, obviously, but also a load of removal and boardwipes to keep control over the battlefield. Some other cards (Mother of Runes, Lightning Greaves etc.) are added to specifically protect the commander.

I would rate the deck as ‘competitive’ of course some upgrades could be added (see the Maybe Board for worthy mentions) but their contribution would be relatively small.

Alternative builds

1. MLD+Stax: One way to make the deck more competitive would be by adding mass land destruction and stax cards like Strangehold and Rule of Law, but I oppose to that as a magic player in general and therefore such cards are not found on this list.

2. Recursion: Add red drawing cards to discard (faithless looting, etc.) and add more graveyards interaction cards. (Animate Dead, Necromancy, Reanimate)
