Serra's Emissary

Creature — Angel

Flying

As this enters the battlefield, choose a card type.

You and creatures you control have protection from the chosen card type. ((Remember the acronym debt.) This can't be damaged, enchanted, equipped, blocked or targeted by anything of the chosen card type. Anything of the chosen card type attached to this immediately falls off.)

If you’re intent on running a large array of big creatures, a reasonable way to do this would be to run a playset of Summoner's Pact. This way, you can run one-ofs of a bunch of cards, and fetch up what you need for the given scenario. This hopefully will get you down to only needing 10 “payoff” cards (4x Pact, 6x creatures).

As far as your big creatures go, there’s a fair-few better options to choose from, depending on your budget. Here’s a list of solid things to ramp into:

I feel like you could probably replace all your big reanimation creatures with Archon of Cruelty (and maybe a copy if Serra's Emissary). The four cards you’ve currently chosen as reanimation targets, imo, lack the immediate pressure required to make them worth the effort.

This is pretty interesting deck, not going to lie. Though there are a few things about it that you could improve the deck with...

First of all is ramp, Mono-white absolutely sucks with ramp I know, especially with getting an 8 drop like Avacyn out, of course stuff like Land Tax and Archaeomancer's Map are good options, they may be a bit on the pricy side. Fortunately stuff like Burnished Hart, Solemn Simulacrum, and Monologue Tax exist and are relatively light on the budget, Knight of the White Orchid and Keeper of the Accord are also good options for mono-white to help get her out sooner. Also, since artifacts are the main source of ramp for mono-white, why not slip in Thran Dynamo, Gilded Lotus, or Semblance Anvil?

Secondly, there is a lot of removal in this deck, namely single target removal. Avacyn loves boardwipes and similar effects over single target removal as she can protect her allies from them. Worldslayer and Nevinyrral's Disk are great non-sorcery forms of boardwipe that work wonders for Avacyn and Fated Retribution can be quite the surprise. Speaking of, Vanquish the Horde and Hour of Revelation are very strong boardwipes in commander considering the chance you can cast them for cheap is very often. Also, since Avacyn will be a big target to everyone, consider adding in Swiftfoot Boots for redundancy with Lightning Greaves.

Next, the angels. For the most part, these are some pretty good choices, but there are a few issues I can see. Restoration Angel and Angel of Glory's Rise are the biggest whiffs in the deck. As of current, the only human/non-angel creature in your deck they could target/effect (excluding tokens) is Starnheim Aspirant, not bad, but both of these prefer to be in non-angel tribal decks, namely flicker and human tribal decks respectively. Aside from them, look through your angels and note any beatsticks, or angels that only exist just to hit face, and consider removing them, three of them that come to mind are Serra Angel, Seraph of Dawn, and Baneslayer Angel. Consider changing them out for angels like Angel of the Dire Hour, Herald of War, Emeria Shepherd, Serra's Emissary, or Angel of Serenity as they provide utility in addition to being a beatstick. Also consider switching Akroma, Angel of Wrath out for Akroma, Vision of Ixidor for some added oomph for your angels.

Your lands are also pretty solid, but you aren't running anything that can take advantage of all of those snow lands. You have The Book of Exalted Deeds, why not slip in Faceless Haven that can, technically, become an angel and thus receive the book's effects? Speaking of, Search for Glory and Scrying Sheets are great cards with these snow lands as one can tutor out either a snow land or a legendary card while the other works well with Herald's Horn. Emeria, The Sky Ruin is basically free recursion in mono-white while War Room and Bonders' Enclave are nice card draw options in a color that lacks it.

Thanks for your comment zapyourtumor, yeah i agree I should make a space for Serra's Emissary somewhere in the 75 for cards such as Solitude. Going to have a look at where I can find a space, as the list is very refined now.

Nowadays you kind of need Serra's Emissary in addition to Emmy mainboard so you can Creativity for x=2 and get them both on the field at once, mostly because Solitude exists.

I've gotten my Emrakul exiled by Solitude three times... in the same game before. It's rough.

+1 Nice list, love the name. Some suggestions if I may:

It's imperative to get Kaalia out as soon as possible and start swinging. That being said I would suggest removing all of your three mana and higher rocks for two mana rocks. Smothering Tithe is a great card, but it's slow in a Kaalia build and is always a lightning rod for removal. I recently pulled it from my own list and haven't missed it since.

Seems like you have plenty of angels/ dragons/ demons to maybe not run out of gas, but I have to wonder with only 4 draw spells? Maybe the amount of tutors you have can help make up for this? Either way, I would recommend adding more draw spells to keep the hand full.

A couple of these are in you maybeboard, but some cards you might wanna try: Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx / Burning-Rune Demon / Necropotence / Syphon Mind / Harvester of Souls / Robe of Stars / Darksteel Plate / Serra's Emissary / Whispersilk Cloak / Teferi's Protection / Strionic Resonator.

Feel free to take a look at my Kaalia build on my page if your interested. Always love seeing another Kaalia build. Cheers.

Hey austinbromine97, I like your build, its different than most and I think it’s interesting. I have been playing Reanimator decks for years, and I have a few tips I’d like to share with you before your team tourney. I apologize for the long post.

First of all, your inclusion of Green mana makes the deck less consistent. You don’t really need Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth or Zagoth Triome, especially not for hardcasting Moldgraf Monstrosity, or for increasing the power of Prismatic Ending. I don’t see another reason to run Green mana. Cradle helps your opponents way more than you, since most decks run Green nowadays. Monstrosity is a weak reanimation target, it really doesn’t need to be here. And you’ll never be able to hardcast it anyway, you are running 20 lands. You’re lucky if you can ever cast Unburial Rites at 5 mana.

Honestly, after testing all kinds of options, all you need is Archon of Cruelty and Serra's Emissary as back-up, with maybe a single Ashen Rider. Archon hits so much harder than the other choices whenever it enters the battlefield and attacks, plus it draws you cards. There’s no reason not to run 4 copies. Most players can handle getting a permanent exiled with Rider, then Rider usually gets Pathed or exiled somehow too. It’s not as useful as it seems. If you need to remove an artifact or enchantment, Rider isn’t the way to do it. Plus any artifacts or enchantments you need to worry about neutralize your ability to play Rider in the first place, like Rest in Peace.

Footsteps of the Goryo does not synergize well with Archon, it doesn’t give haste, and ultimately it doesn’t help your board state. If you want blink effects, you can go that route with 1-cost Ephemerate, it’s simply more efficient. Even Goryo with Ashen Rider is weak, because you may exile some permanents, but you haven’t advanced your board state and have done no damage. You can cut Goryo and go all in with Unmarked Grave at 4 copies and a second copy of Unburial Rites, which I find is always useful. You want 2 copies of Rites so you can always search for at least 1 via Unmarked Grave.

Remand is very weak in this build, I would run Counterspell instead, which is simply better. Your mana base already supports it. You are running Mission Briefing which costs UU anyway.

Prismatic Ending covers most of your weaknesses, I would run a full 4 copies over Bone Shards, which is still useful but can’t help with artifacts or enchantments like Ending can.

I’m a big fan of Teferi, Time Raveler, I highly recommend running him to protect yourself from counterspells and removal.

If you like, check out my deck, I’ve been working on it for a while.

Welcome to the Infect-Team :)

The Deck that top 8'd was targeting certain matchups anticipated at the event as you can see in the sideboard, so maybe you might not do as well with the list at your local meta:
7x Graveyard-hate, 7x Artifact- & Entchantment-hate in the Sideboard against Hammertime, Affinity, Amulet Titan and Chalice of the Void with 1 Counter. Ashiok, Dream Render is also good against Titan, but there is no Creature Removal and Lifegain against Burn is missing.

Abrupt Decay vs. Assassin's Trophy: Giving your Opponnent a land-card is currently a huge disadvantage so I would not play too many Trophy's or only in certain Matchups. Decay is a good card, it hits most of the stuff you need to hit, including Wrenn and Six, but excluding Urza's Saga which leads us to ..

Gemrazer! This card has some big advantages over other Disenchant-Effects. Sideboard cards can sometimes be "dead draws", meaning the situation you brought them in has not occoured, so the sideboard card is useless in your hand. Gemrazer can still be played as a Rancor-like effect: "Give your Creatures +3/+3 and trample" for 3 mana is quite good even if you don't use the "Destroy artifact or enchantment"-effect. If you get both you 2for1 your opponent. Also it hits Urza's Saga. Even in the worst case it's a 4-Mana 4/4.

For removal Fatal Push is currently sufficient in my opinion, but I recommend having a sideboard removal-card against bigger creatures like Murktide Regent, Serra's Emissary or Archon of Cruelty.

Generally speaking about Thoughtseize: the obvious reason to run it is to disrupt your opponents hand, but the not so obvious reason is that you are more likely to have something to do on turn 1. 8x 1-drops (Hierarchs and G-Elf) are sometimes not enough to consistently draw one in your opening 7 cards. There were times before Ignoble Hierarch where UG-Infect would run a single Birds of Paradise for more consistent draws. If you have a lot of burn/aggro decks in your local meta swap it for Inquisition of Kozilek.

Phyrexian Crusader is currently a powerhouse since most removal is red or white in the current meta. You are right: Blighted Agent is a lot better than Plague Stinger with a lot of fliers flying around, but the 3 color manabase is just superhard to play.

My prefered budget Replacement for Endurance is Nihil Spellbomb since it can draw you cards. (The effect even triggers if your opponent wants to destroy it)

I am playing BG Infect for ~2,5 years now, if you are interested here is my list: Nobody expects the Kozileks Inqusition - BG Infect
