STRATEGY

Moderate powered 'fair' Atraxa deck with a straight forward game plan: Go wide with early Creatures and +1/+1 Counters. Mid game we have excellent proliferation coverage to give us a massive boost. Hardened Scales, Kami of Whispered Hopes, and Vorinclex will stack truckloads of counters on top of our +1/+1 package.

  • Main packages: +1/+1 counters, proliferation, scry to filter, and protection to keep our board or key pieces.
  • Praetor's Counsel: For board wipe protection, and Evolution Witness for options.
  • Emergent Ultimatum: Can find all three of our threats: Vorinclex, Tekuthal, and Norn's Choirmaster. Alternatively, Lisette, Dean of the Root.
  • Mystical Tutor: Can top Blessings of Nature for Miracle when in need of counters.
  • Weak in removal: So we can optimize our plan and keep tempo.

WIN CONDITIONS

  • Overrun the board with +1/+1 creatures.
  • Pristine Talisman and other lifegain triggers to turn on Lisette, Dean of the Root's board trample for big swings.
  • Tekuthal, Inquiry Dominus is arguably the best threat in the deck.
  • Vraska Poison Ult. + Vorinclex, Monstrous Raider on field = One opponent dead.

SIDEBOARD

I have 10 card swaps that fundamentally change how the deck plays. It significantly changes its power level for more competitive playgroups. I remove most of the scry package for the changes while keeping alternative consistency.

  1. Elven Farsight <-> Ground Seal: General graveyard hate protection for any version.
  2. Opt <-> Wizard Class: Counters/infinite draw.
  3. Valentin, Dean of the Vein <-> Dispel: To protect our Sickening Dreams.
  4. Arwen Undomiel <-> Simic Ascendancy: Counters/Alternate win con.
  5. Nissa, Steward of Elements <-> Lim-Dul's Vault: Tutor/Find combo pieces.
  6. Scheming Aspirant <-> Sage of Hours: Combo/Infinite turns.
  7. Season of Growth <-> Sickening Dreams: Main win con with infinite draw.
  8. Hopeful Initiate <-> Aura Shards: Mass Artifact/Enchantment removal.
  9. Pristine Talisman <-> Vigean Graftmage: Counters/Infinite mana.
  10. Praetor's Counsel <-> Time Stretch: Tempo/Infinite turns support.

SIDEBOARD COMBOS

  • Infinite Mana: Vigean Graftmage + Incubation Druid/Kami of Whispered Hopes.
  • Infinite Draw: Wizard Class + Fathom Mage in play - Sickening Dreams to discard cards, kill everything, win. (Provided we have the life to do so).
  • Infinite Turns: Shalai, Voice of Plenty or Gavony Township and Sage of Hours on the field - access to infinite mana.
  • Quick Time Stretch: Kasmina, Enigma Sage Ult.
