Welcome to the first deck for Tip Money Magic, the deck series where I build fully functional commander decks for no more than what I make in tips. My goal is to help spread the message that commander is a format that you don't need to sell a arm and a leg to have fun. If you like this deck or my goal, be sure to leave a +1. But with that done, lets get on to the deck.

I'm not gonna lie, when I first saw Selenia I believed she was nothing more than another example of a old legendary creature that had been vastly outclassed because of magic's continual power creep. And who could really blame me? on the outside this creature looks like nothing more than a overcosted minion with a mediocre effect. But despite all outward appearances, Selenia has a unique effect that no other commander replicates.Selenia, Dark Angel reads "pay 2 life: return Selenia to it's owners had" with this ability on the stack we can respond to her returning to our hand by paying 2 more life to return her to our hand again. This means that Selenia can be used to drain our life total down to either 1 or 2 life at instant speed. While this would normally be a downside, we can use this effect for all kinds of shenanigans.
The First step to winning with this deck is to lower our life total as low as possible. our primary way of doing this are:
Once we have lowered our life total down far enough, we need to manipulate our opponents life total. Our primary ways of doing this are:
Once our opponents are down to 1 or 2 life all thats left is to ping them off with one of these cards.
We run several effects such as Children of Korlis that gain back all of the life we lose. In combination with a card like Sanguine Bond or Defiant Bloodlord we can nuke our opponents. And as a upside, these effects work with our life swapping cards exactly how we want them to. If we are at 1 and a opponent at 40 when we swap lives with Defiant Bloodlord on the battle field, defiant blood lord sees us gain 39 life and thus deals 39 damage to a opponent of our choice.
By far the most janky win condition is Triskaidekaphobia. It's really hard to pull off but oh so satisfying when it does happen.
Near-Death Experience can be quite risky, but with the ability to manipulate our life total at instant speed its very possible.
Phyrexian Processor can give us absurdly large creatures every turn which we can in turn use to beat our opponents down the old fashioned way.
  • Hex Parasite, I didn't feel I needed any more redundancy in life draining effects
  • Soul Echo, Maybe I'm reading it wrong but it just doesn't seem that good
  • Exquisite Archangel, Honestly I'm on the fence here and will need more play-testing to decide if its worth the include.
  • Sol Ring I tried to make this deck as budget as possible, so sol ring didn't make the cut for monetary reasons
