The Storm gathers around Ravnica...

This deck is probably one of the meanest decks I've created so far. It's a Niv-Mizzet storm deck with different win strategies besides decking myself with Laboratory Maniac . We want to be like a storm. Slowly gathering and swirling above, and suddenly strike with fire and lightning.

This deck has had a long history. It first started out as a The Locust God deck with wheels and infinite combos. I wasn't particuarly happy with it after awhile, and grew bored with the deck. I slowly forgotten about the deck, until Kykar, Wind's Fury came out. It didn't speak to me until I got excited to build around it. It was neat enough, but the problem with the deck is that it was extremely hard to keep Kykar on the field. There also wasn't enough card draw for my liking, and while it had answers, it was difficult to draw into them with the white mana taking up room. I focused, instead, on a card in that deck: Niv-Mizzet, Parun . This card slowly became my favorite card in that Kykar deck, and I wanted to build around it. Here's what we got so far...
Like I said, this deck is storm and combos. We also want to draw as much as possible. We want to play our biggest, possibly strongest, card in this deck: Thousand-Year Storm . This sucker lets us copy our instants and sorceries a lot of times. We can use this to get a lot of red mana with Desperate Ritual or do crazy amounts of damage with Grapeshot .

Even better, if we have our commander out, we just keep drawing into gas and shocking people into submission. Eventually, we'll be able to cast Throes of Chaos and copy it tons of times, and drawing cards in the process. Listed below are a few different interactions this deck can provide.

However, this deck is a double-edged sword. With all of these copy triggers, it is completely possible to deck yourself and ruin your game plan. You can run Laboratory Maniac , but I don't enjoy running those types of cards in a deck like this. Plus, why not throw a little element of danger in the mix? Isn't it more fun that way?

- Here's a small list of Interactions that work in the deck. One thing that you should pay attention too is on cast triggers. That makes cards like Mizzix's Mastery insanely great, since each copy is casted. Note when you see a card that says that because they play nicely with all of these certain cards.

These are just a little sampling of different interactions and mini-combos within this deck. Each piece is like a cog in a larger machine that works to an eventual goal.

While some don't like storm (I don't blame them), this deck does a lot of different things and is able to deal tons of damage to our opponents while drawing a lot of cards. If you want to feel like a mad-mage, this deck will make you feel like one.
