Maybeboard

Artifact (1)

Made with leftover cards from Breya deck, some other cards I had laying around, and about 15 bucks of new cards. Budget voltron with Akiri, Line-Slinger. Plays straightforwardly, like most voltron decks. Play the commander, get equipment, attach, attack, repeat.

Why Akiri, Line-Slinger? She's cheap to cast, which makes her awesome for both taking on a little hate and coming back and for playing fast--coming out on turn two. She gets a passive bonus to damage just by having equipment on battlefield, which expedites the voltron process. She also has both first strike and vigilance. So she can swing out and likely kill any blocker without risk of damage to herself, and then remain open to blocking. She's just super versatile.
Because I generally avoid tutors (not viewed as super fun in my meta) I just filled the deck with a bunch of equipment instead of just a couple that you always look for. I like the diversity. There's a lot of standard equipment in here, plus a few to make up for Akiri's lack of haste and trample (Haunted Cloak, Ring of Valkas, Chariot of Victory). If you wanted to upgrade this a bit, you could throw in Darksteel Plate for the indestructability, but I didn't have one and didn't see the need to buy one with everything else. You could also add in more hexproof/shroud with Champion's Helm, Cloak and Dagger,General's Kabuto, or Lightning Greaves. I'm trying to keep this fairly budget, but I may end up picking up a lightning greaves as they 're just so useful.
Auriok Steelshaper, Auriok Windwalker, Brass Squire, Godo, Bandit Warlord, Jor Kadeen, the Prevailer, Puresteel Paladin, Stone Haven Outfitter, and Stonehewer Giant all help get equipment out on the battlefield, help get equipment equipped, or help give a boost to the equipped. Auriok Windwalker and Brass Squire can provide for some combat shenanigans--moving equipment around at instant speed. The big support creature I'm missing is Leonin Shikari, which would just add to the possible combat shenanigans, but it's a bit too expensive for me right now.
- Aven Sunstriker has flying and double strike
  • Boros Reckoner can get first strike and, if blocked, allows you to still get damage through to either the opponent or some pesky creature

  • Commander Eesha flying and protection from creatures makes her essentially unblockable

  • Godo, Bandit Warlord came with the Breya deck, and both tutors for equipment and is a great voltron target as he gives you two combat phases

  • Hound of Griselbrand has double strike and undying, making him resistant to removal

  • Hundred-Handed One can voltron for attack or can sit back as a defender if need be once it becomes monstrous

  • Jor Kadeen could be a voltron target, but I have yet to choose him over recasting Akiri. His passive bonus is awesome.

  • Kemba, Kha Regent could be really fun if you have Puresteel Paladin out. Attack with Akiri, then switch all the equipment to Kemba so she can create a whole bunch of tokens, then switch all the equipment back to Akiri. Even without the paladin, just equipping her a bunch is a solid strategy if you're in for a slightly longer game.

  • Sun Titan is mostly there for recursion, but can make a great voltron target--equip, attack, get equipment back, repeat.

There's two more possible voltron targets that have unique abilities. I added a Mimic Vat because of these two: Armory Automaton and Vulshok Battlemaster. Both allow you to attach all equipment to them as they come out, which makes them pretty awesome late-stage voltron targets--essentially free equip costs. They can also pick up anyone else's equipment (at least until the equipment's controller takes it back on his or her next turn). My dream, however, is to imprint them on the Mimic vat and just keep creating new guys each turn that constantly equip everything on the board.

There's a few cards that help get equipment back if it's lost: Auriok Survivors, Remember the Fallen, Trading Post, Open the Vaults and Sun Titan help recur any equipment or important creatures you may lose, though the titan is itself a good voltron target.
Skullclamp and Stone Haven Outfitter act similarly, giving you a bonus if they kill your commander; Infiltration Lens and Mask of Memory can allow you to draw while attacking all while feeding Akiri's artifact bonus; and Puresteel Paladin allows all those equipment cards you play to replace themselves.
Not a lot in red and white. Explorer's Scope and Sword of the Animist help you get lands out. Blinkmoth Urn gives you free mana for all of your equipment that helps cover their casting and equip costs, though it does provide the same benefit to everyone at the table. You should have more artifacts out, meaning you benefit more, but be careful.
As mentioned above, I don't really play a lot of tutors. I enjoy the variety that EDH gives, and it's somewhat frowned upon in my meta. Why play EDH if you want to play the exact same deck each time? That being said, there are a couple in here: Godo, Bandit Warlord and Stonehewer Giant. The giant is particularly great, as he tutors for an equipment and attaches it for only 2--and he can do it each turn.
Got a bunch of removal that can be used with Sunforger. There are two board wipes: Divine Reckoning and Phyrexian Rebirth, both of which leave you with a creature on the board to use for voltroning. Divine Reckoning wipes all enchantments, which you don't have to worry about because you have none. And then there's Silent Arbiter. Because you're doing voltron, the creature attack limit doesn't really hurt you--you're almost always going to be attacking with one big guy. It's a serious benefit on defense, though, limiting them to just one guy that can likely be taken out by your voltron. Also it's an artifact, giving Akiri a free +1/+0.

That's it. Budget voltron that plays fast and hits hard. Not competitive tier, but fun enough in a fairly casual meta. This is my first voltron, so suggestions are definitely welcome! Thanks for checking it out.
