Full Title: Joy to the World (Jeremiah Was a Card Draw Remix) feat. Zedruu the Greathearted

My very own Red, White, and Blue EDH deck! I feel so patriotic.

I wanted to avoid the obvious trap that Zedruu presents at first glance to start donating a whole host of super-harmful things to your opponents. Performing like that is just going to paint a huge target all over your face and vitals. Instead, the idea is to play defensively and drop a host of global effects (some harmful, some helpful) until you're stable enough to wreck everyone and win.

The deck has many pillows to hide behind with Propaganda, Ghostly Prison, Sphere of Safety, and so on, and has plenty of tutors like Enlightened Tutor, Mystical Tutor, and Idyllic Tutor to assist in grabbing what you need. Because of the heavy focus on enchantments, Wild Research in particular is extremely important to get out as early as possible (and the drawback is offset by Zedruu filling out your hand). There are also plenty of answers, namely Oblivion Ring and the cards like it to get rid of offending permanents.

Cards like Mana Flare, Dictate of Kruphix , and Oath of Lieges can help keep you safe because everyone gets the benefit. They are also prime targets for Zedruu's ability because the controller does not matter.

Zedruu is used to donate a few things here and there and create a solid buffer of cards and life. I'd suggest no more than three donations at any given time, and even that might be pushing it, especially if you have an Alhammarret's Archive. Remember, the idea is to not draw too much attention to yourself.

The easiest way to win is to drop an Enduring Ideal and have it copied once or twice via Twincast , Reverberate, and/or Uyo, Silent Prophet . Going epic can nearly guarantee success because the enchantment suite is versatile enough to handle any board situation with a combo of two or three and set yourself up to pull out a win on the next upkeep. Notable winning combos are Form of the Dragon + Second Chance + Mistveil Plains and Sacred Mesa + Pyrohemia + Vicious Shadows, though tossing an Eldrazi Conscription onto Zedruu and just smashing the field to bits is quickly becoming my favorite.

There are other win conditions, of course and it's a good idea to not get into the habit of winning via going epic consistently; let everyone forget, then punish them for their folly.

The idea is to not draw fire! Above all else, when running this deck that is the golden rule. Don't be flashy or pull your triggers early; just remind everyone that Zedruu is harmless. Zedruu is your friend. Zedruu merely wants you to be happy. We have no intention of crushing your dreams. That would be rude.

Joy to the World.
