Balduvian Trading Post

Land

If Balduvian Trading Post would come into play, sacrifice an untapped Mountain instead. If you do, put Balduvian Trading Post into play. If you don't, put it into its owner's graveyard.

Tap: Add (1)(Red) to your mana pool.

(1), Tap: Balduvian Trading Post deals 1 damage to target attacking creature.

What does Warren Instigator do for this deck? Am I missing the goblin theme? Gibbering Fiend is a machine gun.

Fiery Islet more card draw.

Shivan Gorge This card finally found a home! Does serious work in this list. Balduvian Trading Post is old, neat and similar. Just something to consider if you want more Ghryson triggers.

Blasting Station similar type of engine as Intruder Alarm.

Caltrops this might be another suicide suggestion but I'm thinking this will act like an on theme Propaganda while you ignore the tax because your creatures are pingers.

Walking Ballista your deck doesn't have a counter theme or generate big mana but this robot is a colorless engine that will do work early/mid/late game.

Not sure if it's really worth the investment, but the old Kjeldoran Outpost and Balduvian Trading Post can lower your land count while offering either a decent token generator or a bad damage source, Trading Post doesn't cost you mana, just fixing. I guess you'd have to pull Aether Flash to put in Outpost, so perhaps as a sideboard card? Just had a thought, but Goblin Chainwhirler is a pretty fun card to play vs decks using small creatures, not sure if 1 damage would be enough to matter compared to Flash hitting stuff for 2.

I get that instants are better than sorceries in almost all situations, but I feel like Retribution of the Meek is just much bigger than Reprisal, while still being lower to the ground than Wrath of God. Also worth a look (and cheaper) is Slaughter the Strong, which will kill all of their creatures if none are small enough to survive, and solves wide boards of even Indestructible creatures, as it's a sacrifice effect.

It's a bit out there for sure (most people openly despise these cards), but I have had some luck using Risk Factor and Browbeat to just bulk draw cards for mana in Red, the key was using it in a deck that would seriously consider playing either as a Burn spell with no possibility of cards, but that's often what it will be (most people start worrying about Fireblast and hate to go below 9 life, and might start feeding cards). I feel like your Seismic Assault is pretty synergistic, they almost have to give you the cards to avoid taking more damage, and I think you win via damage usually?

I'd definitely cut Temple, this deck seems too aggressive for it to be worthwhile. If you really want double-mana lands, try

Ancient Tomb if you have cash

Dwarven Ruins

Balduvian Trading Post(although it's really not a double mana land....)

Sandstone Needle

Other than that, maybe try going heavier into the Goblin theme. There are a lot of goblin token generators, and Goblin synergy is often better than straight token synergy.

Consider cutting Emrakul's Hatcher, Hanweir Garrison, Scampering Scorcher for things like Goblin Rabblemaster, Goblin Piledriver, and Goblin Trashmaster.

Additionally, lots of goblin synergy turns Shared Animosity into a win con. With Animosity or Marton, Breath of Fury becomes a straight win condition with enough tokens. Just slap it on your tokens and they'll get bigger with each swing.

I would also like to see what other lands could fill the spot of the tron lands in this deck. I rarely if ever assemble tron and there are many other lands that I could play in this slot. Clear favorites include The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale, Bazaar of Baghdad, and Mishra's Workshop, but I am looking for lands that aren't as expensive. Lands such as Lotus Vale, Barbarian Ring, Ghost Quarter, Mutavault, Spire of Industry, Balduvian Trading Post, Gemstone Caverns, and lands like Keldon Necropolis or Blighted Gorge are all replacement options. Anyone have experience running these lands in a more competitive environment and have any tips?

Absolutely. If you tap a Mountain for one , you then pay that and sacrifice the tapped mountain to cast Shard Volley.

The only exception to this would be if the card specifically stated that you have to sacrifice an untapped land, such as in the case of Soldevi Excavations or Balduvian Trading Post.

wadledo: Stonebrow was just added to give the tramplers +2/+2. Since Mina and Denn, Wildborn can give trample, I just wanted a card that could enhance that part of their ability. I originally thought of having Attune with Aether in the deck, but Savage Ventmaw replaced it.

VanDerTroll: If you want to slightly bump the budget up, you can easily put in more cheap sacrifice lands like Ash Barrens (this card will come down in price soon), Archaeological Dig, Balduvian Trading Post, Jund Panorama, Centaur Garden, Crystal Vein, Throne of the High City, Warped Landscape, Mountain Valley, etc. These can replace some of the basic lands. Then, you can replace some of the "Ramp" cards with a few cards that will get these lands back from the graveyard, like Cartographer, Groundskeeper, Nature's Spiral (Which I might add to this decklist anyway), Pulse of Murasa, Stoic Builder, Tilling Treefolk, Woodland Guidance, and mostly -- Splendid Reclamation. If you go this route, I would definitely consider replacing one of the creatures with Centaur Vinecrasher.
Of course, there are many other things you can do, also. You can switch out Mina and Denn with Omnath, Locus of Rage for your commander. They both pilot the deck in different ways, but I built it to be compatible with both. As I pointed out in the description as well, Restore and Rampaging Baloths are great additions, and both are pretty inexpensive. Restore can steal the Evolving Wilds/Wooded Foothills out of somebody else's graveyard. So, that's always fun. Avenger of Zendikar is a $5 card that's a staple for landfall.
The very first thing I would upgrade, though, would be the land base. There are so many options here, and it all depends on how much you want to spend. If you're in the $10-$15 card range, Stomping Ground is a must-have. If you're looking more in the $1-3 range, Kessig Wolf Run, Reliquary Tower, Tectonic Edge, and Ghost Quarter are all great additions.
