Shard Volley Discussion

I recommend replacing Searing Spear with one of the many better red burn spells.

Rift Bolt

Lava Spike

Shard Volley

Skullcrack (this is literally a straight upgrade)

Searing Blaze

Magma Jet

any of these would be better than the spear trust me

I also agree with the suggestion about cutting the Burst Lightning down because it's essentially a shock with a kicker you may not ever have enough mana to pay and even then the kicker probably wouldn't even seem worth paying. When it comes to burn a lot of the value cards that can even come close to Lightning Bolt are when you can splash green or white, but I doubt you want to do that so might I suggest Shard Volley and Searing Blaze? I know they're not ideal but if you want a little more versatility to hit either a creature or player at instant speed with 3 damage they may be the best options you have despite the drawback. Hope this helps, cheers.

I agree with the suggestions for Hellspark Elemental & Magma Jet & Smash to Smithereens.

I really don't think Shard Volley is worth it.

Instead of Searing Blaze, maybe Pyroclasm for the same cost. Or Flamebreak or Volcanic Fallout for 3 and it hits both creatures and player. They hit your creatures too though. :(

I really like Searing Blood.

Since your Spark Elemental is going to die anyway and maybe your Monastery Swiftspear might be useless in later turns, I'd suggest maybe running Reckless Abandon.

I would suggest Browbeat somehow in case you get to mid-game. Definitely not x4 but maybe x1 or x2. By turn 4+ you won't have a hand left. From my experience Mono-Red burn doesn't do well when it gets to mid-game so you may need some kind draw. Or Dangerous Wager or Magmatic Insight.

Speaking of mid-game, another suggestion for sideboard would be Ensnaring Bridge, making what people used to call a Burning Bridges deck.

Some Grim Lavamancer and Shard Volley are to consider if you want to lower your mana curveDevil and Beat are defenitely not to consider especially if you are in 3 colors you have defenitely better options

Definately Eidolon of the Great Revel, but if you can't affort him I get that.

Another Searing Blood just because.

Grim Lavamancer is somewhat underwhelming without Fetches, but as a 1 (maybe 2) of, it's still playable, and good against Lantern control.

Shard Volley is another "playable" burn spell. It's not that great, but in the end it does what you want it to.

Flames of the Blood Hand and Exquisite Firecraft are both very meh. Just a filler card for if you find yourself with just 1 empty s lot.

Shrine of Burning Rage Ain't bad, but it's a meta card. If you play a lot of slow matchups, it's your best card, if not, it's mediocre.

Searing Blaze I'm reluctant about. It's basicly an RNG Sorcery removal when you lack fetches... (Probably the reason you don't run it yourself anyways)

You pretty much already run all the best cards, (except for Eidolon.) So all you need is to choose your filler, really.

Grubbernaut thx for your oppininon.

-this deck runs 20 lands to optimize the amount of Mountain/Shard Volley/Fireblast and in most games it works fine (maybe i am lucky :3) , anyway I will try

-2 Shard Volley

+2 Needle Drop

-Curse of the Pierced Heart looks interesting, I will add it to the maybeboard.-You are totally right about the Pyroblast (added to the side)

See yah!

IMO, 4x Shard Volley is a tough sell, especially with Fireblast. I would switch it up like this;

-2 Shard Volley

-2 Mountain

+4 Needle Drop

You could also sub the last 2 Shard Volley for Curse of the Pierced Heart

As far as SB, I'd do 4x Pyroblast for sure
