Are you concerned about budget? Because if not as much then Goblin Guide is good. And a fourth Vexing Devil. So is Monastery Swiftspear and Eidolon of the Great Revel. I can explain how eidolon is good if needed. I have also been testing running 1-2 Ghitu Lavarunner and it seems pretty good.

Also Skullcrack is pretty good. And you might want to consider adding a single Shard Volley.

16 mountains and 4 fireblasts is just too mismatched. You probably never need more than 1 fireblast per game. Additionally, I would be averse to playing the three curses outside of the SB. They are not good at triggering Alchemist and are glacially slow, usually useful versus control. I would either go +1 jet + 2 Thunderous Wrath or 2 copies of Shard Volley + 1 land.

I wonder how well the X-spells and Reverberate will work here. Burn generally wants to be able to operate on as few lands as possible and end the game quickly, and these all need you to draw a lot of lands over many turns to become useful. They also have an additional anti-synergy with Shard Volley which wants to eat any extra lands you find.

Other budget creatures to consider for burn include Keldon Marauders (guaranteed 2 damage, max 5), Hellspark Elemental, and Abbot of Keral Keep. I might also consider the new Ghitu Lavarunner. It works well in pauper, so it at least might not be terrible in modern as a budget replacement for Goblin Guide.

I personally like to have at least two Magma Jet to scry land away or dig for whatever I need, and I like anything with the name "searing," such as Searing Blood or Searing Blaze (honorable mention to Smash to Smithereens), though these are sometimes better for sideboards until you know whether your opponent is playing valid targets.

Has anyone tested Flame of Keld for this type of deck yet?

Any reason you're running Fireblast over Shard Volley? I know Fireblast hits for 4 but is the extra point of damage worth pitching two mountains?

You don't mainboard the Smash to Smithereens because not everybody plays Artifacts. You could try Skullcrack or Shard Volley.

Good deck overall. One point: I feel that Shard Volley might be a bit less useful than other cards here. The sacrifice a land can be a drawback, especially if thats your turn one play. I would go with Chain Lightning as an alternative. You can play lightning bolt without any drawbacks, and if your opponent chooses to copy it, you can copy the copy to do more damage. Overall though, good job!

4xShard Volley is pretty aggressive. I've found that the life gain from Lightning Helix and the utility of Searing Blaze are often vital in a burn deck. I would suggest dropping the Shard Volleys for a 2-2 split of helix and searing blaze.

On another note, is Damping Matrix supposed to be Damping Sphere or just a budget replacement for Stony Silence? Also, though I understand the feeling that it you would want to keep it purely RW, I think Destructive Revelry is just too good (and so much better than Wear / Tear. A one-of Stomping Ground in the main board is what I have seen people use to play the side board revelry. Ghitu Lavarunner is cute and enables the wizard stuff, but I might even say that Grim Lavamancer is better? not sure about this one though. with 18 creatures in the deck, it is hard to say for sure if it will be a 2/2 on turn 2 every time. Even if it is, not sure it isnt still worse than Goblin Guide despite the synergies with Wizard's Lightning (4x Soul-Scar Mage and 4x Grim Lavamancer might be enough).

Just a thought, if you're into the attacking with wizards thing, izzet might be the better color paring with Stormchaser Mage and the new and shiny Adeliz, the Cinder Wind. That way you get access to all the cantrips (Opt, Serum Visions, Slight of Hand) to prowess up your dudes and dig through your deck for a Temur Battlerage or something along those lines.

I am playing -2 lightning helixes in order to add 2 more Shard Volley it seems more agreesive to me. i will also try out the new saga coming out in dominaria The Flame of Keld which i believe should be pretty powerful in this deck. i would probably go down 2 Shard Volley for it.
