WotC has officially announced that there shall be a Commander Masters set, so let us begin speculating about it!
Thus far, only three cards have been revealed, but they are all excellent, so I am hoping that the remainder of the set shall be comparable.
If The Ur-Dragon is being reprinted (and it needs to be), I also would like to see Edgar Markov reprinted, because he also is expensive, as well as Oloro, Ageless Ascetic, mainly because he has never been reprinted (except as a judge promo), so I would like to see him in the new card frame.
Given that Rhystic Study, Mystic Remora, and Smothering Tithe were all reprinted, recently, I would like to see Esper Sentinel reprinted, mainly to keep its price low and availability high.
I have said this, before, but I shall again pray for reprints of Book of Rass and Claws of Gix, mainly to see them in the new frame.
Sol Ring and Command Tower are almost certain to be in this set, but I also would like to see Reflecting Pool and Chromatic Lantern, to keep their prices low.
Akroma's Memorial, Mirari's Wake, and Privileged Position would all be great, as well.
What does everyone else say about this? What card would you like to see reprinted in Commander Masters?
I would hope this would be a great place to reprint precon exclusives like fierce empath etc.

I feel like I say this every time there is a big reprint set, but... Parallel Lives and/or Anointed Procession reprints, please!
I also kind of hope that Jazal Goldmane gets a reprint solely for the fact that none of his current printings come in foil. My inner vorthos needs a foil one, dammit!

TIL: you can sort scry fall by price. I want all 10 talismans reprinted. Also give us the battle bond/baulders gate lands
March 1, 2023 10:23 a.m.
They should go land-crazy, the key to accessibility in EDH/Commander
March 1, 2023 10:26 a.m.
The Battlebond lands really do need to be reprinted more, I agree!
March 1, 2023 10:30 a.m.
While the Battlebond lands are better, I'd actually like to see reprints of the new Innistrad slow lands. Those are very good and going up in price.
Of course I wouldn't complain about the Battlebond lands being reprinted either. As long as they do one or the other.

Since there are obvious tribal themes happening in this set, they may bring changelings in again like they did with Modern Horizons to smooth out limited formats. So there’s a good chance we will see Morophon, the Boundless. I don’t know what other methods they have for making tribal strategies work other than throwing in changeling chaff or making some kind of new feature for commander to help.

Maybe something like Volrath's Laboratory or Arcane Adaptation? I'm guessing changeling anyway, since flavor isn't a problem. (Also, universal tribal payoffs like Shared Animosity.)
March 1, 2023 4:37 p.m.
Are they going to try to balance it for limited play at all?

Friendly colored Talismans like Talisman of Indulgence so I can get them in foil (for a reasonable price). I have all 10 of my signets in foil and the 5 enemy Talismans in foil but none of the friendly colored ones.

Righteous Aura has not been reprinted in a long time, so I definitely would like to see it reprinted, in this set.
Akroma's Memorial, Door to Nothingness, and The Immortal Sun could all use reprints, to keep them available an inexpensive.

Sorry for the double post, but Homeward Path and War Room both definitely need to be reprinted, to keep their prices low, and, while both Reliquary Tower and Thespian's Stage have already been reprinted numerous times, further reprints would be good, since they are such staples of EDH.

I would like to see some of the cards that have only ever been printed in the Game Night sets be reprinted, here, simply to increase their availability, such as Avatar of Growth, Fiendish Duo, and Sphinx of Enlightenment.
March 5, 2023 5:48 p.m.
DemonDragonJ says... #18
Overabundance and Iron Maiden have never been reprinted, so I would like to see both of those cards reprinted, as well.
All ten lieges were reprinted in Double Masters 2, but those reprints did little to increase their availability, so I would like to see them reprinted in this set, as well, and, hopefully, with new artwork for all of them.

Rune-Scarred Demon and Sidisi, Undead Vizier are two more cards that I would like to see reprinted.
I predict that there shall be at least one cycle of dual lands in this set, but I am not certain which cycle I would like to see, since the shocklands (i.e., Godless Shrine, Hallowed Fountain, etc.), the filter lands (i.e., Wooded Bastion, Cascade Bluffs, etc.), and the check lands (i.e., Isolated Chapel, Glacial Fortress, etc.) have all been reprinted, recently, so I think that the dual lands from the third Innistrad block (i.e., Deathcap Glade, Deserted Beach, etc.) are ideal candidates for reprinting, to keep them available and affordable. I very much would like to see the cycles for Horizon Canopy, Nimbus Maze, and Cinder Glade finished, but Masters sets are entirely reprints, so the players shall need to wait for those cycles to be finished.
Last_Laugh, I, also, would like to see the allied-colored talismans reprinted, with new artwork and quotes from planeswalkers, to make them uniform with the enemy-colored talismans.

Neither Fervent Charge nor Cromat have ever been reprinted, so I would like to see them in the new card frame, and I also think that Chromatic Orrery should be reprinted to bring down its price, as well.

Both Tymna the Weaver and Thrasios, Triton Hero are very expensive, so I would like to see them be reprinted in this set.
March 19, 2023 8:06 p.m.
DemonDragonJ says... #22
Seizan, Perverter of Truth and Powerstone Minefield have never been reprinted, so I would like to see them, in this set.
The utility lands from Innistrad, especially Alchemist's Refuge, should all be reprinted, as should be the ten utility lands from the original Ravnica block, such as Sunhome, Fortress of the Legion or Orzhova, the Church of Deals.

Fungal Shambler and Dromar, the Banisher have never been reprinted, so they definitely deserve to be reprinted in this set.
The Immortal Sun is an all-around awesome card, but it has been printed only once, so I very much would like to see it reprinted, in this set, as well.
April 6, 2023 10:46 p.m.
DemonDragonJ says... #24
Both Aura Shards and Black Market Connections are more expensive than they should be, in my mind, so I would like to see both of those cards reprinted in this set, as well.
April 12, 2023 9:56 p.m.

I would like to see Attrition and Malevolent Awakening reprinted in this set, since both of those cards need to be reprinted, in my mind.

Reprints of Augury Adept and Tidal Barracuda would be nice, and I also would like to see Ancient Spider and Tempest Drake reprinted in the new border style, as well. Also, given that Thunder Spirit is on the reserved list (which makes no sense, at all), I wish that WotC would reprint Sky Spirit more frequently, since it is such a nice and elegant creature.

Previews for this set have officially begun! Does anyone else have anything to say about them?
I am very glad to see that The Immortal Sun is finally being reprinted, so it shall now be affordable, and the reprint of Archfiend of Despair likely means that I shall now be able to obtain a foil copy of it for a reasonable price.
I am not happy to see Cyclonic Rift or the free spells from Ikoria reprinted (i.e., Deadly Rollick or Obscuring Haze), but I am very glad tos ee the confluence cycle being reprinted.
I am glad to see the medallion cycle be reprinted, but I actually would like to see the familiar cycle (i.e., Sunscape Familiar, Nightscape Familiar, and so forth) be reprinted, at some point, as well.
July 12, 2023 9:34 p.m.
With the cost of packs I'm not sure how much the cost of cards that are expensive due to demand (like say, Heroic Intervention will actually drop, especially for mythics. I do think this will serve to crash the price of a bunch of cards that are expensive due to insufficient printings (looking at you Nesting Dragon. I'm pretty happy about the medallions and the Fierce Guardianship cycle being at rare as those are all very good cards that cost way too much.
The sealed prices are just ridiculous right now. $300 for a box of draft boosters? A single collector booster pack is $65 right now. At least the expected value won't be tied up all in a handful of mythics like in Double Masters 2.

Honestly, it's hard to get excited about spoilers when the set is so cost prohibitive. It doesn't matter how great the reprints are when the cost of the sealed product is so high that I doubt it will matter. Some cards will drop in price due to extreme scarcity driving it's value (i.e. Capture of Jingzhou), but I highly doubt any of the reprints of cards that actually see play will experience significant drops in price.
Sorry to be a grouch, but this set could've been a great way to drive down the cost of the most popular format of the game. I really hate to say this, but I hope this set flops hard. When LGS's in your area are only buying a small amount of product, or avoiding the product all together due to price, you know WotC messed up.
Thank goodness for the Hewlitt-Packard Secret Layer line of cards...
July 13, 2023 2:40 p.m.
Yep, call everything a premium product & keep up-pricing. Keep on testing those waters until people decide the luxury outweighs the hobby.
So happy I have the decks I'm happy with, this has been an amazing time for me to sell off in-bulk lately.

I wonder if the art direction for Exsanguinate specified just two people? The fact that it can hit all opponents is a big selling point in commander. Would have expected something more like Bloodsoaked Reveler Flip.
At first I thought the art for Flawless Maneuver was meant for Fierce Guardianship due to the blue runes, but then I notized that it featured Orzhov characters. Weird choice, could have been gold? Guess it would be hard to distinguish from the fire.
Did anyone ask for Pianna, Nomad Captain to be reprinted? Feels weird that she's a rarity neighbor to e.g. Kemba, Kha Regent. Battle Screech is pretty underwhelming too. Isn't there better draft chaff available?

Oh boy, folks are quite upset about that sliver precon. And justifiably so given the cost of the deck.
July 17, 2023 6:03 p.m.
Coward_Token says... #33
Descendants' Fury: The art is kinda misleading, as you'll probably be using this to trade 1/1 tokens for Goblin Goliaths and the like. (And Dragon's aren't all that disposable either.)
For the Ancestors: Neat payoff. I don't think you're likely to get more than two cards, but the fact that's it's both an Instant and got flashback helps. While they're not wanting for card draw due to access to blue, the scry-happy LotR Elf decks will probably enjoy this a lot.

Contrary to the Slivers deck, the Jeskai PW precon looks pretty darn solid. Good reprints, interesting new cards (that multi target Chaos Warp looks really interesting), and a solid manabase.

Ugin's Mastery: of course, morphing out cards makes them colorless creature spells on the stack.
July 20, 2023 3:27 p.m.
Now that they are all spoiled, I'm glad I didn't pre-order any of the commander decks. Yes there are some nice reprints, but overall the value of the reprints just doesn't line up with the fact that the decks are double the price. And none of the new cards look like the second coming of Fierce Guardianship, which is a good thing. I'll just buy the singles I want.
I will say that the enchantment deck looks like is has the most interesting new cards to me. Composer of Spring, Ondu Spiritdancer and Ghoulish Impetus all look fun to me.

Hi_diddly_ho_neighbor says... #38
I gotta say, after looking at all of the decks, they are pretty good. Each deck has decent reprints, clear strategies (besides the "eldrazi" deck), and interesting new cards. The issue however is that "pretty good" and "decent reprints" doesn't cut it when you consider the cost of the decks. If sold at normal prices, I bet folks would be falling over themselves to buy these, but at these inflated prices, they aren't worth it.
Also, WotC needs to be careful with the marketing surrounding the colorless deck. Naming it "Eldrazi Unbound" and featuring an eldrazi as the face of the deck only to have the deck be more focused on colorless creatures makes a lot of folks feel like there was a bait-and-switch. Having Gavin Verhey provide clarity on this fact in a random reddit thread only a week before the decks are spoiled doesn't cut it when it comes to transparency.

Welp, Capture of Jingzhou got knocked down from the throne of "most expensive non-reserved good card", letting Mana Crypt ascend to its rightful place
Of my pet cards, Cover of Darkness hasn't even been on The List! At least Training Grounds got an unexpected Standard-legal reprint.

Now that all cards in this set have been revealed, most are quite excellent, but there are still many cards that I would like to see reprinted that were not, such as Martyr's Cause, Overabundance, or Debt to the Deathless; however, I am still glad to see that many excellent cards were reprinted, so I do plan to purchase at least several singles from this set.
July 23, 2023 8:53 p.m.
Coward_Token says... #43
Yeah nah the colorless deck was quite dissapointing. There's not that much Forsaken Monument-style support for the color identity; I wish they'd do it in a Commander Legends precon or something so that there'd be more room for new cards.
Coward_Token says... #2
This is a pretty good reference (I was surprised that among good reprintable cards, Capture of Jingzhou was the most expensive.)
Some neat cards that have seen little to no reprints for a long while:
I expect the various Sliver legends to make a reaprearance. Also, Mana Crypt could stand to be a less of a luxury.
