Goblin Goliath

Creature — Goblin Mutant

When Goblin Goliath enters the battlefield, create a number of 1/1 red Goblin creature tokens equal to the number of opponents you have.

, : If a source you control would deal damage to an opponent this turn, it deals double that damage to that player instead.

Nice deck! I started brewing AtBA almost immediately after seeing it spoiled and have been working on the deck making improvements/changes over time, and it is easily my favourite deck at the moment. One thing that I do differently with mine is focus more on low cost creatures that make tokens on ETB, things like Weaponcraft Enthusiast & Sengir Autocrat ideally as they make 2-3 tokens to get that first or second Blood Avatar cast, You're Confronted by Robbers is great also because it's an instant, Waylay is the cheapest way to make 3 tokens on your turn. Because of this I also run all the good reanimator spells, and since that includes Animate Dead I also run Abdel Adrian, Gorion's Ward, which on it's own is also good, especially if you run a lot of mana rocks. I chose not to run Worldgorger Dragon for the infinite mana combo as it isn't good on its own, where Abdel Adrian is. Since you run Fury Storm I would consider running Storm-Kiln Artist for the combo potential, as he is also good for ramping off of instants/sorceries and synergizes with the toke doublers (get Mondrak out of the sideboard and into the 99). It also combos with Chain of Smog for infinite mana if you're into that (I'm not). Academy Rector is awesome for cheating in Anointed Procession if you're about to make tokens or City on Fire if you already have Blood Avatar(s). Roaming Throne from Lost Caverns of Ixilan is also good for the same reasons Isshin is, but it has Ward 2 and is colourless. I also run most of the lower cost extra combat cards to try to maximize the attack triggers, Goblin Goliath has been an (expensive) all-star. Any planeswalker with + ability that make tokens are also great.

There are so many different things you could focus on with this deck I find it hard just to narrow it down to the gameplan you're after, which is one of the things I love about it. The one thing my deck is lacking now is Lifelink, I'm looking at Teysa Karlov because vigilance is great too, but I don't focus too much on death triggers, so Whip of Erebos may take the spot.

Excited to see future updates on this! Will post my decklist eventually and link it here, interested to see your comments.

Descendants' Fury: The art is kinda misleading, as you'll probably be using this to trade 1/1 tokens for Goblin Goliaths and the like. (And Dragon's aren't all that disposable either.)

For the Ancestors: Neat payoff. I don't think you're likely to get more than two cards, but the fact that's it's both an Instant and got flashback helps. While they're not wanting for card draw due to access to blue, the scry-happy LotR Elf decks will probably enjoy this a lot.

Rasaru: I've been super busy at work and the release schedule of new cards is super overwhelming, but yes I am also excited! Solphim is definitely going right in. Not only is it a nicely costed doubler (it honestly might replace Fiery Emancipation...) but having a 2nd creature in the deck that can survive a boardwipe is pretty nice. If someone is playing with Gratuitous Violence instead of Goblin Goliath (GG is a weird set that breaks and delists the deck which is why it is in the sideboard) I would absolutely replace Violence with Solphim.

I think Gleeful Demolition is definitely good enough for the deck, and them being Phyrexian Goblins means they still work with Ib's sacrifice.

As for Koth, in my playgroup at least, planeswalkers only really get the chance to do their entry ability before dying, and red doesn't have many planeswalkers with gamechanging +'s. My hope is that one day they make a Slobad planeswalker (apparently he was a PW for a day or something?!) and that it is good enough to run in here.

I hope to do another catchup run on the last set (I think I am only one behind?) very soon to do deck changes, and I will update as soon as I do!

Also, I played again recently with 3 people where each of us won once, and the treasure subtheme definitely made Ib a contender in all of the games. This is the strongest the deck has been, no question, and the couple chaos cards sprinkled in has also made it the most fun version so far.

Would you care for a Goblin Goliath or a Dockside Extortionist during these trying times?

They're a little expensive, but given how pricey this deck already is, I figured you could probably include them without too much of a hassle.

griffstick on How to play aggro?

You got to take advantage of what boros gives you to be aggressive. The biggest thing boros gives you that no other color pairing gives you is extra combats. Take advantage of that with cards like Combat Celebrant, Aurelia, the Warleader, World at War, Scourge of the Throne, Seize the Day, Savage Beating, Relentless Assault, Moraug, Fury of Akoum, Waves of Aggression, Response / Resurgence, Breath of Fury Hellkite Charger, Aggravated Assault, Fury of the Horde and Port Razer. Along with that you need to speed up the damage output. Boros gives you damage doublers, with cards like Fiendish Duo, Goblin Goliath, Gisela, Blade of Goldnight, Insult, Furnace of Rath, Gratuitous Violence, Dictate of the Twin Gods, Curse of Bloodletting, Bitter Feud, Angrath's Marauders, Overblaze, Inquisitor's Flail, and Fiery Emancipation.

Also consider other things boros gives you that will speed up damage like double strike. Boros gives you haste, trample, and evasion. You need to consider all of those. All while staying low on curve and fast in ramp. If you do this you'll have a good aggro deck.
