A collection of 'X' spells featuring Zaxara, the Exemplary as the commander. I wanted a hydra tribal deck, but also liked the idea of X-spell tribal, so I mashed the two together. Naturally skewed more to the green side for the creatures, but the extra splash of blue and black help with board control and card draw so we can get our big boys out more safely.

So the basic idea is to get the commander out turn 4 so you can start dropping x-spell bombs and making beefy tokens (or weeny tokens! you decide!). Swing when you can, as you'll almost always have a blocker thanks to Zaxara, the Exemplary's tokens. Many of the spells add to - or double up on - the number of +1/+1 counters too. I tried to stay away from the really expensive cards like Doubling Season because at heart I'm a budget player. That said, I did sneak in a The Ozolith because I've always wanted an excuse to use it.

JULY 2025 UPDATE: Finally pulled this deck together and took it for a few runs with a 50% win rate! It slaps surprisingly hard. Very easy to get mana. If you can get Zaxara out on turn 4 and you have a mana dork and some X spells, you'll steamroll. It's great fun!
