Alright, let's just get this out of the way right out of the gate. I'm sorry, I don't own a Wheel of Fortune.

A) I spent all my cash on foil Ignorant Bliss.

B) Stop making fun of my deck! You're not my real dad!

C) Who cares - there are now enough wheel effects in Mono-R to resurrect Dale Earnhart.

What are we gonna do with all those wheels? Take them off the rails!!

Purphoros, Bronze-Blooded has two incredible lines of text:

Indestructible - Your general cannot be easily removed, making the main strategy of this deck very consistent.

: Sneak Attack - The main engine of this hot rod. The ability to drop (almost) anything at instant speed is a phenomenal advantage, if you can break it.

Purphoros's main drawback is the rising cost of gas. He costs 5, which is nothing to shake a stick at, and his ability costs 3. Use it once or twice, and your creatures are dead and gone in your graveyard. For this, we need an engine that can keep our hand full and the mountain mana flowing.

Wheels like Wheel of Fate, Memory Jar, and creature triggers like Neheb, Dreadhorde Champion serve two purposes:

  1. Wheels wheel us into fast mana rocks, slow mana rocks, rituals, mana-doubling effects, and other ways to bypass mana costs like Sneak Attack. Wheeling and ramping will help you outrace your opponents.

  2. Wheels repeatedly refresh our sneak attack options while filling our graveyard for Goblin Welder, Daretti, Scrap Savant, Feldon of the Third Path, and Scrap Mastery. Remember: Wheels may give your opponents cards, but if your deck is designed to break that parity, you're winning!

You can also cast Ignorant Bliss in response to one of your own wheels, and at end of turn you'll get to keep all of your cards.

Once your graveyard is nice and full, use Underworld Breach to cast all your favorite mana rocks and bombs. Yawgmoth is spinning in his grave!

Since we run several repeatable wheel triggers and recurrable wheel artifacts, there's a solid chance that you can accidentally mill yourself. We have an Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre as a shuffle effect, with the upside of a 10/10 Annihilator 4 if you happen to get the mana to hardcast it - not hard to do in this deck.

The creatures in this deck are chosen for several characteristics:

A) They provide card advantage or wheel effects: Cavalier of Flame, Knollspine Dragon, Imperial Recruiter, Combustible Gearhulk

B) They kill or steal stuff: Duplicant, Living Inferno, Drakuseth, Maw of Flames, Balefire Dragon

C) They provide mana advantage: Hellkite Tyrant, Dockside Extortionist, Golden Guardian  , Neheb, Dreadhorde Champion

Purphoros's ability has a major drawback, but if you can get around it, you're doing one of the most powerful things in Magic's history: Cheating.

To dodge the sacrifice trigger at end of turn, use any of the following:Voyager Staff, Sundial of the Infinite, Cloudstone Curio, Erratic Portal. There are other cards I'm not running like Synod Sanctum and Helvault that work too.

You can also combo out using two-card combos that are easy to tutor:

Dockside Extortionist + Cloudstone Curio + Any other creature. If Dockside makes 5 treasures, you're in business - you can chain the ETB of any creature you want an infinite number of times using Purphoros to cheat it in. If Dockside makes more than 5 treasures, you also generate infinite mana!

Tutor this combo with your Goblin Engineer, an Inventors' Fair, and/or Imperial Recruiter. Or just wheel into it!

Other cool synergies and combos include:

Possibility Storm - disrupt your opponents and use Purphoros to bypass it!

Indomitable Creativity - turn your small creatures and mana rocks into a random band of merry Gearhulks and Dragons!

Loop Cavalier of Flame with Cloudstone Curio to quickly burn out the table as you fill your GY with lands!

In response to a boardwipe or cyclonic rift, just toss out Worldgorger Dragon and all your stuff will be protected. Also a great way to reuse ETB effects or end the turn with all your mana untapped. Just make sure your opponents are tapped out!
