Introduction

This is a proactive deck that leverages Belbe's ability to generate mana fast to get out some large creatures such as Steel Hellkite and Breaker of Armies. These large creatures while being early aggressive threats to your opponent can also be utilised to help dig through the deck for the combo win using effects such as Hunter's Insight, Greater Good, Momentous Fall and Morbid Curiosity. Along with this draw power is a suite of black tutors as they will allow us to find artifacts as well as creatures. The deck is geared towards a combo win using either Chain of Acid + Darkmoss Bridge + Witherbloom Apprentice or Altar of Dementia + Lesser Masticore + Melira, Sylvok Outcast .

Arguably one of the most important parts of the game with this deck. The ideal hand will contain a green source, a black source, a 1 cmc pinger, a large 6 cmc or less creature spell and some form of card draw. Refilling your hand will become very important.
The plan is to have Belbe, Corrupted Observer in play along with something such as Viscous Conquistador that will drain each opponent each turn so that we can add (normally) 6 colourless mana in the second main phase. This mana will help cast creatures with high power that can be sacrificed to cards like Greater Good to draw through our deck looking for a combo.
  • Altar of Dementia + Lesser Masticore + Melira, Sylvok Outcast - will allow you to infinitely sacrifice Lesser Masticore to mill your opponents out.
  • Chain of Acid + Darkmoss Bridge + Witherbloom Apprentice - will allow you to target the indestructible land and copy the spell infinitely to get ping triggers off of the apprentice to drain your opponents.
  • Shadowheart, Dark Justicar - greater good type card draw that can be tutored to the battlefield with creature tutors. Still testing.
  • The current combos in the deck use a mix of card types. Ideally there would be a 3 card combo line that uses only creatures so that if the only tutors available are creature tutors you have a line of winning. The other thing is that the combos in the deck are kinda dead cards without any combo pieces and don't synergise with much else. A combo that synergises with the deck would be much more flexible. Perhaps moving away from proactive to a more adaptive (midrange) type deck might be an option even though it may change some current fundamental part of the deck. Big creatures for cheap could always be a back up plan.
