Hello and welcome to EDH! Edgar Markov is a great choice if your strategy is to play fast and aggressively. But you need to improve your deck a little bit. EDH is a multiplayer format so you need strong board wipes: Wrath of God, Day of Judgment, Damnation. You also need something to deal with indestructible creatures: Anguished Unmaking would be a nice addition to Utter End and Swords to Plowshares. And take a look at Crackling Doom - it's a fun card too. Your creatures also need protection: Boros Charm is the first card on my mind. And yes, as soon as you play tokens Eldrazi Monument isn't a bad idea. I usually add Metallic Mimic or Adaptive Automaton to my tribal decks. They can really boost your Vampires. Underworld Connections should be replaced with Phyrexian Arena. And finally - tutors. You really need them in EDH. Vampiric Tutor, Demonic Tutor, Diabolic Tutor, Beseech the Queen - the choice is yours. Good luck!

Thanks for the positive feedback DRmagic2017 really appreciated ! Crackling Doom will be added since i have that card in my collection, and Tutors are indeed needed and will be added later ;) i have Diabolic Intent on my mind aswell ! What are your thoughts on that one ? Saccing a 1/1 token for a powerful draw is something i would consider ...

I think, since it's a tribal, you should definitely add Cavern of Souls

Some other good lands could be: Marsh Flats, Bloodstained Mire, Arid Mesa, Sacred Foundry, Luxury Suite (or, if you have money, Plateau, Badlands, Scrubland), Winding Canyons, Maze of Ith, Ghost Quarter, Strip Mine, Wasteland, Bojuka Bog, Nephalia Academy, Slayers' Stronghold, Command Beacon, Arcane Lighthouse

If you want some combo in your deck you could add Exquisite Blood (goes in combo with Sanguine Bond) and Dark Depths, that goes in combo with Vampire Hexmage)

Cereal_Killer Thanks for the feedback mate ! I have a big order incoming within the next days, lands mainly! Cavern of Souls is a very good card but since there aren't much counter spells in EDH I replaced it with Unclaimed Territory Very nice suggestions you mentioned there ! And some of them our on their way as we speak , feel free to comeback and check it out which lands have been chosen to ramp the deck up !

I see a definitive lack of Butcher of Malakir that needs to be remedied.

Also if you are considering buying Plunder the Graves here is my Meren build which is a reasonabe semi-budget upgrade from the precon and very competitively viable:

Gracco thanks for the suggestion but the mana cost is way to high for a 5/4 body that has the same ability as Grave Pact & Dictate of Erebos I will check out your Plunder the Graves version right away !

Nirkana Revenant and Necropolis Regent are just powerhouses of creatures and Cathars' Crusade adds more power, Olivia Voldaren for flavour and can add power / control a game

dritchie thank you for the suggestions ! Let me explain why some of these did not make it into my deck,

Nirkana Revenant: If i'm spending 6 mana on a creature i want instant value ! and no (6)creature has more valid than our beloved Coven leader Edgar Markov !

Necropolis Regent: Same as the above ^

Cathars' Crusade: Again a high cost card for 0 value in the turn i play it + almost useless after a boardwipe. Rather pay 1 more and cast Edgar Markov

Door of Destinies: 4 mana , No value again in the turn i play it , can be a powerhouse after some turns and many casts but thats not my playstyle.

The other cards you mentioned Fumigate & Patriarch's Bidding are indeed good cards but i don't have them YET :p

Thx again for the comment ! really appreciated mate !

Update:

Out : Phyrexian Reclamation In: Reanimate Why: Reclamation was to slow for me + when it was on the board i rarely used it...

Out : Vampiric Rites In: Contamination Why: First of all, Stax gameplay is my favourite playstyle! With all of the tokens its no problem to sac 1 at the start of my upkeep and Contamination is a wincon in this deck! I have enough mono black vampires in this deck to bring my foes down. The best time to drop Contamination on the board is when Edgar Markov is on the battlefield to pump up my vamps and make it a swift dead for my beloved friends around the table.

I think im close to the final version of my deck, I could use some sac lands to give it the final touch it needs but those are expensive but will be introduced soon..

Thanks for reading ! If u like my deck please upvote !

Hey, consider Oathsworn Vampire . Great mana sink (with sack outlet) and almost free contamination food later in the game.

Oh, and Necropotence of course.

Koka Thanks for the comment and upvote mate ! Much appreciated !! Necropotence has been on my mind but im afraid i dont run enough lifegain atm for it.. What do you think ?

January 27, 2019 2:15 p.m.

Koka says... #16

Gorbah I don't see necropotence requiring lifegain at all. But it does depend on your meta. Mine is combo based and buying 10-20 cards usually makes you win the game. Since your deck is mostly not combo, you might be right. I would test it (if your meta allows proxies) or if you have the time for it. Maybe for diabolic tutor?

Koka, in this deck i don't run a combo win con because i really dont like the combo's that fit into Edgar!

For example: Blood Tribute + Sanguine Bond or Sanguine Bond + Exquisite Blood

Im gonna keep it in mind a little bit longer ^^ but a swap with Diabolic Tutor is indeed a good call ! Thx for the help mate

I know its outside your deck tech but if you ever come across it Phyrexian Altar + Blood Artist + Oathsworn Vampire is quite fun :D

The 2 main areas I feel this list needs work in is both ramp and card draw. The mana curve on the other hand looks great.

Draw: Consider Greed , Dark Prophecy , and Herald's Horn .

Ramp: Talisman of Indulgence , Fellwar Stone , Rakdos Signet , Boros Signet , and Orzhov Signet all deserve spots.

I'm also fond of Sorin, Solemn Visitor here. His +1 is very nice, especially with Reconnaissance (note: until your next turn).

Feel free to check out my list for ideas. Feedback, Upvotes, and/or Ideas on any of my decks is appreciated. Edgar's Dega Vampires

Last_Laugh , thx for the comment much appreciated !

I don't have the feeling i need ramp when i play my deck, i compared our decks and yours runs bigger vamps than mine so i get the point of it in yours, I only run 7 cards that are above 4mana. I'd rather play an aggro card than a ramp card.

Draw is something that's always handy to have, Necropotence is the best fuel in my case but im happy with the card advantages that Phyrexian Arena , Twilight Prophet , Skullclamp , Vanquisher's Banner give me! Even Athreos, God of Passage can end a game real quick or give me a lot of card advantage.

Upcoming changes are: Out: Diabolic Tutor & Vicious Conquistador In: Vampiric Tutor & Land Tax

On the note of you playing such a low curve for your creatures, consider running Scapegoat , my favorite piece of secret tech here. It's a very real answer to a meta with -1-1, exile, and tuck type boardwipes. It also allows you to overextend a little bit without the 'oh crap I'm in topdeck mode' post boardwipe and you get your eminence triggers again. I'd much rather sac a token and eat an Evacuation on my creatures with this low of a curve rather than be in topdeck mode.

Last_Laugh You are 100% right there, should i switch Unbreakable Formation for it ? Since i also run a Boros Charm & Teferi's Protection ... What is your swap card suggestion ? Thanks a lot for the feedback ! Just ordered the card on CardMarket

March 29, 2019 1:58 p.m.

Last_Laugh says... #23

Yeah, not sure what else to cut so probably Unbreakable Formation as it's easier to hold up the single mana and catch people slippin'.

That or with this low of a curve you can probably drop to 36 lands and be totally fine.

Np, I was soooooo close to happy with it in my build but I do have a higher cmc for my creatures. It gave me gas post boardwipe but I always had to discard too (still the lesser of 2 devils though).
