I never did end up running New Blood . Please tell me you've lived the dream and stolen an Utvara Hellkite with it lol?

Also congrats on hitting #6 overall today!

Have you considered Oversold Cemetery for recursion? It's innocuous enough to typically get left alone, its requirement is reliably met here, and most importantly it requires no further mana investment. Think of it as selective card draw.

Did you drop Scapegoat ? I loved its versatility here. Bounces your board for Purph kills or dodges hard to dodge wraths like tuck, exile, etc.

Hey Last_Laugh !

Thanks for the comments and suggestion mate!

Lets start with New Blood one of my favourite cards in the deck. I'm having so much fun running this one !! Stealing a Utvara Hellkite did not happen yet but boy oh boy that would be bonkers <:D but the ones i did steal and are worth mentioning are Omnath, Locus of Rage that play was ridiculous because i already had a wide board of vamps including Elenda, the Dusk Rose + Yahenni, Undying Partisan so i just went full out and on the ES i sacced all my vamps to Yahenni ! Every vamp that died triggered Omnath for 3 ping damage and was a fuel for Elenda feeding her with counters and saccing her as last to obtain a wide board again and doing it all over to finish the table off :) Will never forget that one !! A Vampire Blightsteel Colossus is also a game ending steal :P I highly recommend New Blood every vamp deck should run it imo.

Oversold Cemetery & Scapegoat did have a slot in my deck for multiple weeks but most of the time they did not shine the way i thought they would, and a few times those cards were a dead card in hand. Meaning i drawed the Oversold Cemetery early game and had no vamps or to less in my GY to trigger it and at those points that card only slowed me down and that didn't fit my aggro very well :)

Scapegoat is a very nice card ! But instead of removing my board presence back to my hand i rather protect my board with cards like Teferi's Protection , Unbreakable Formation , Boros Charm to finish the game quicker and keeping the threat presence. But in some situations it would be a better card, especially when Purphoros, God of the Forge is present. So it might come back someday ! and I would like to thank you again for your suggestion of Scapegoat you did a few months ago .

Np. I see a LOT of wraths that don't destroy in my meta (tuck, exile, -X-X, sac, etc.). At that point only Teferi's Protection dodges those types of wraths.

It's also the difference between holding up 1 mana or 2 to 3. You can bait boardwipes with only open and people assume it's for Swords/Path or Enlightened Tutor. They expect to leave you in topdeck mode... not for you to have a 1 mana answer that allows you to immediately redeploy.

Last_Laugh,

You actually made a very good point there. I will have to squeeze in my Scapegoat again ... drop to 35 lands ? What do you think ?

Just played my first game with it, 5 players including myself - Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir control, Saheeli, the Gifted artifacts, Arcades, the Strategist defenders, Meren of Clan Nel Toth infect, and then myself.

I was lucky and got to start the game (won high roll). On turn 4 I had 4 vamps on board and then played Captivating Vampire bringing my total to Vampires 6 and giving me a huge board control advantage, Fortunately blue was already tapped out as I was the last player before him. I took Arcades after he cast him to shut down his deck. Played Malakir Bloodwitch turn 5 bring my life total up to like the 90's. Damnation was played turn 6 but in response I used Captivating Vampire to take Pawn of Ulamog from the infect player and ended up with 8 eldrazi tokens. Turn 7 I played Necropotence and drew 50 cards, sculpting a perfect hand, throwing a crazy amount of cards into my graveyard. Cast Burning Wish into Rise of the Dark Realms on turn 8 dumping all graveyards creatures onto the board (including my super full graveyard) under my control and that was basically it, won turn 9 because no one had a board wipe.

Hey casual_competitive

A recent ban in one of my playgroups... and maybe an arcane signet is better here for the colorfixing.. still haven't had the chance to playtest my new build of 20/07 :(

Cloudstone Curio can let you abuse your post combat main phase and set up for the following turn. looping the same 1 drop vampires can get really aggressive really fast.

I would like to squeeze in a Cruel Celebrant I like this vamp, she really fits the drain theme here.. anyone with a suggestion for a swap ? Would love to go to 36 creatures but my deck is rock solid for me.

Played 3 games this week and it went absolutely insane game after game.. Won all 3.

I recently found myself cutting Phyrexian Arena from a lot of decks. Especially in aggro strategies, it puts no pressure on the board early in the game and yields lower returns the later you draw it. On top, you want the game to end fast, so it may draw you only a few cards, depending on when you play it. Sure, one extra card per turn can be game changing but I don't really see it fit in aggressive decks.

How much work did Blood Seeker, Vampire Cutthroat and Tithe Drinker do? I more or less ignored them until now but that may depend on the meta of the playgroup :D

Hey ImmortalDawn

Blood Seeker fits my drain theme and my playgroups are heavy creature based so this one is solid gold for me

Vampire Cutthroat is one of the better 1cmc vamps , 90% of the time he always slips his damage thru

Tithe Drinker is in here for the life link, and to dump mana into extort if possible ... funny you mentioned this one because this vamp is getting replaced !

Bringing a new update later today , swapping some cards !! so come back and take a peek on what's happening next !

Update 28/10 is live! :)

I am looking for some 2nd opinions on swapping out New Blood for card draw : either Dark Prophecy or Idol of Oblivion

What are your thoughts on this swap ?

Thanks for reading !

Have you not run into the nonbo of Reconnaissance and Throne of the God-Pharoah together? One wants your creatures tapped at eot and the other is going to untap them all by the end of combat.

I just stuck to Reconnaissance for the defense and avoided Throne due to the nonbo personally... so honestly just curious if or how often it comes up.

Hey Last_Laugh ! Long time no see ! :)

I never had the "issue" of having the 2 cards on the battlefield at the same time.. But I would just go full attack and Reconnaissance my blocked vampires and let the rest do dmg + get the trigger from Throne on the ones that attacked .. Seems logical to me ? no ? :)

Seems like a very good decklist to me honestly, would probably mostly run as is but would make a few changes that don't make too much of a difference. Here are a few ideas I wanted to run by you since I imagine you also have a lot of experience playing Edgar Markov.

Haven't actually tried running Scapegoat though mostly because I'm worried that you still lose too much momentum if you cast scapegoat to save your vampires. I would certainly still keep it as a board protection slot and probably run Flawless Maneuver . I think that leaving open the extra 1 to 2 mana to leave the vampires intact as opposed to in your hand is worth the price. Also, you get the added benefit that it's free when Edgar Markov is in play which is pretty great.

Toxic Deluge is a really good board wipe, though I feel like there is very little point in board wiping because if for whatever reason you need a board wipe in Edgar Markov that must mean that you are really losing, and all casting one is going to do is make you lose a little less. Also since most board wipe cases are against some go wide/tall green deck they probably have significantly more mana and will rebuild way better than you so board wiping is really a long shot. With all that said Living Death is an insane board in Edgar Markov, especially considering how many sac outlets you have in your deck. In my experience most times you play Living Death is a 5 mana one-sided board wipe that triggers all the benefits of the sac outlet in addition to death triggers. Their are very few times in my experience where it is actively bad to cast Living Death .

Lastly Phyrexian Arena seems to go against the grain of what your deck wants. As I understand Edgar Markov Aggro you want to end the game as fast as possible, but Phyrexian Arena wants the game to go long to gain the most value. For a card replacement, I have not got to play it yet but Pact of the Serpent seems like an amazing new card that gives you that massive burst of cards that lets you keeps the ball rolling after you dump your hand of vampires onto the board.

Overall though I think its a great deck and all my criticisms are very minor, I have my own personal decklist here would be happy if you checked it out and gave your thoughts on the deck. My personal list is not purely aggressive but I'm sure that you may have some valuable insights on the list.

Hey VampRamped

First of all thanks for the comments and feedback ! I will playtest Living Death instead of Toxic Deluge and Pact of the Serpent for Phyrexian Arena

I think these changes are an upgrade indeed !

Scapegoat however is a keeper. Incredible plays with this card ! You can use it as protection but also as an aggro play ! This card has won me games when i have Purphoros, God of the Forge on the battlefield!

Will check your Edgar Markov brew right away :)

Talk you later

Hello, love your list! My deck is very similar, I'll post it later today if you wouldn't mind giving me your thoughts? I am curious how a few cards are performing for you.

I took out Vampire Nocturnus because I felt like it flopped too often, is it performing well?

Living Death- I use Patriarch's Bidding atm. I could never afford it until the new printing, it's now just 1$. Do you think Living Death works better? I don't find myself in need of a board wipe often.

How is Purphoros, God of the Forge working out for you? I had taken our Bloodghast but that's an interesting interaction.

Any cards from Midnight Hunt you are looking at? Vampire Socialite and Falkenrath Pit Fighter both seem like good inclusions.

Excellent build!

Hey sean360

First of all thanks for the comment and your interest in my build!

Vampire Nocturnus is a keeper for me, it has won me several games since my deck is mainly black coloured and its always nice to declare attackers and wait for the reactions of opponents and than play a vampiric tutor and put a black card top library :D

Living Death imo the better card than Patriarch's Bidding since I first sac my own board! for example: Goblin Bombardment and ping all the extra damage, than everyone needs to sac his board and all our vamps are coming back! And to answer your next question... This combo play works like a charm when you have Purphoros, God of the Forgeon board :) Elenda, the Dusk Rose ... Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet... Purph is a must have for aggro swarm edgar build :)

Midnight hunt is looking great! That Socialite looks insane and is defo gonna get slotted in here!!

Gonna check your build out right away!
