Some people just wanna watch the world squirm.

Unleash your inner bastard with Grand Arbiter Augustin IV, one of the most oppressive control commanders around!

Make your opponents sweat mana with Augustin and other cost-raising and permanent-locking cards, drive them to despair with heavy application of counterspells and removal, then play one of your two-card combos to lose all your friends (but, more importantly, win the game):

Enchanted Evening + Cleansing Meditation (with Threshold) = All permanents are destroyed, then yours (and only yours!) pop back. Hard not to win at that point!

Enchanted Evening + Aura Thief (death trigger) = You now control all permanents on the field. If you still lose after this, please tell me how, so I can laugh at you.

Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir + Knowledge Pool = Only you can resolve spells. This is a complicated one - opponents can cast a spell and get it exiled on Knowledge Pool, but won't be able to cast a free one because the 'free cast' trigger is on the stack, and Teferi's sorcery speed restriction means they can't do anything while it's there.

This is intended for a mid-budget player, who can splash out on some fetches and pricier cards but can't (or won't) push into the $500-plus range for their deck. It's easy to recommend things like Tundra or Moat if you have the cash to spend!
