Atraxa's Kill Engine

Commander / EDH* GWUB

TheKingThero

So, to kick of this intro, let's talk EDH basics... One simple rule, don't build your deck around your commander! Of course, there are many great decks out there built around the commander, but they are often less effective than those that utilise their commander as a boost or a bonus piece of their combo puzzle.

I have chosen to use Atraxa, Praetors' Voice as my commander for three reasons. First, she has the colours that are most useful to me for constructing my "Engine". Second, her ability to proliferate to aid my "Engine" in performing its task of being cruel and devastating, and finally, she is a horribly powerful card for only four mana, which holds its own in combat very well.

The win con for this deck is based around rapidly proliferating Darksteel Reactor for a solid alternative win. The other is based around proliferating Armageddon Clock to deal massive damage to all players, infuriating everyone in the process. To avoid being devastated by it myself, I am running a selection of life gain artifacts to help bring me out on top. These are: Eternity Vessel (being the number one choice), Sun Droplet and Clearwater Goblet . I don't need to explain much about why Eternity Vessel is a perfect choice for this deck, especially when we are proliferating. Sun Droplet can also be proliferated, but is just there to recover from any damage sustained overall. Clearwater Goblet is the next best thing to Eternity Vessel, as it has sunburst and once again, combined with proliferation is extremely beneficial.

Now onto standard win conditions, I am running Time Bomb , Necrogen Censer , Magma Mine and Heliophial to deal tonnes of direct damage to my opponents. Again, the key to these artifacts is the proliferation engine.

To deal with combat, I have a nice pillow fort using Propaganda , Ghostly Prison and Norn's Annex . Then to deal with my opponents' permanents, I have Lux Cannon , Engineered Explosives , Plague Boiler , Ratchet Bomb and Scourglass .

For grave control, I am using
