Potential combos:

Nim Deathmantle - Grave Titan - Ashnod’s Altar. Unlimited zombie tokens or unlimited colorless mana

Gravecrawler - Diregraf Colossus/Open the Graves - Phyrexian Altar/Rooftop Storm. Unlimited zombies.

Gravecrawler - Mikaeus the Unhollowed- Phyrexian Altar. Unlimited black mana.

Gravecrawler- Phyrexian Altar- Black Market. Arbitrarily high number of black mana on your upkeep.

Noxious Ghoul - Gravecrawler - Rooftop Storm/ Phyrexian Altar. Unlimited -1/-1 to all non-zombies.

Diregraf Captain/Vengeful Dead/Plague Belcher - Gravecrawler - Phyrexian Altar/ Rooftop Storm. Unlimited Life loss to opponents.

Mikaeus the unhallowed- Plague Belcher- any sacrifice outlet. Any zombie death trigger goes infinite as Plague Belcher gives himself 2 -1/-1 counters canceling our undying and allowing him to continually come back. Also unlimited colorless mana with Ashnods Altar, unlimited Colored mana with Phyrexian Altar.

Grimgrin- Gravecrawler- Phyrexian Alter/Rooftop Storm. Unlimited +1+1 on Grimgrin. Add in Ghoulcaller Gisa and you have nearly infinite Zombie tokens. Grimgrin can be swapped out for phyrexian Ghoul or Carrion Feeder in this case.

But it’s not really a combo deck. There are dozens of synergies throughout. Many Zombie lords, sacrifice and recursion outlets to pump and build fields. Mikaeus has interesting synergies with many zombies such as Noosegraf Mob who will continue to pump out zombies as long as players cast spells.

All the sacrificing and casting makes Dictate of Erebos, Grave Pact, Diregraf Captain, Plague Belcher, Vengeful Dead and Noxious Ghoul utterly horrifying to opponents who had hopes of keeping a field or a decent life total. And Call to the Grave just keeps that pressure on, making players play creatures they didn’t want to to protect their other important creatures (or trying to remove Call to the Grave over more important enchantments like Open the Graves or Endless ranks)! Black Market ramps to an amazing degree of left unchecked.

Nearly every card in the deck works with every other unless it’s the odd card meant to interact with my opponent (usually by clearing the field). A big exception is Erebos but life gain decks or decks with incidental but annoying life gain are not uncommon in my area and the card draw is greatly appreciated when I’m looking for a combo piece. And I feel he fits the flavor of the deck (most important criteria) by being the God of the Dead.

A big observation is just how resilient the deck can be. Board wipes and loss of creatures rarely do more than present a speed bump. More often than not, the zombies are the quickest to bounce back and (with cards like Living Death, Crypt of Agadeem, Zombie Apocalypse and Rise of the Dark Realms) can come out of the other end even stronger than they were. I often sacrifice my entire board state in response to Cyclonic Rifts or mass exiles or even my own Living Death.

I find myself defending Grimgrin as the commander over the Scarab God nearly every time I play. Players just insist the Scarab God is better (without a point of context to my deck). Having played both, Grimgrin nearly always out-performs the Scarab God and is much more consistent with what he does. He also fits the sacrifice sub-theme of the deck that so many combos rely on.
