Combros Ultra Low Budget Version

Commander / EDH

sadcasual

The lowest price version of the deck that hopefully still operates with something like 30% t5 and 80% t6 durable wins. Jeskai Ascendancy Combo+Green is nonsnesically rad, and yet it seems like no one is using it.The core combos are Jeskai Ascendancy + Sprout Swarm , Flame Jab + Jeskai Ascendancy + Life from the Loam , and Jeskai Ascendancy + Life from the Loam + Selvala, Explorer Returned . The loop is pretty simple and flexible, requiring Ascendancy, a way to produce 'mana' from your creatures, and a spell that can be cast over and over. The first loop is the most obvious, playing and buying back Sprout Swarm with Convoke, which untaps all creatures on your side, allowing you to Convoke the spell again. The draw trigger on Ascendancy can be replaced by a dredge for life from the loam, which you then cast to get lands in hand, discarding 1 to the trigger. The other two lands you return are used retracing Flame Jab, depending on whether or not you want to draw or merely cycle your whole deck. The final loop replaces flame Jab entirely, using draw from Selvala to dredge Life from the Loam. With this loop, you can't help but draw your whole deck. All of these draw all the cards in your library one by one, potentially generate unlimited mana, and produce on board creatures with massive power. All of these require some number of mana generating creatures on the board, of which the deck runs several, in addition to creature tutors for them.
Speaking of tutors, this deck runs MANY. Enlightened Tutor + Mystical Tutor + Worldly Tutor are the best ones, and have a certain level of overlap. Mystical tutor can find any other tutor, if you already have the spells or the means to get them. Worldly can find Drift of Phantasms, who transmutes for Ascendancy. Chord of Calling has pleasant interactions with Ascendancy and our non-mana creatures to actually generate mana on a filled board, or to close out a non-infinite ascendancy loop, fetching Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre to eat a piece of removal that would otherwise be used on ascendancy.Tezzeret the Seeker isn't amazing, but he does serve to get ramp, Winter Orb , or Thousand-Year Elixir. Crystalline Crawler is a four mana bird of paradise that Tezzeret can find, with potential explosivity when played early. Winter Orb is a powerful tool that changes the game for a turn or two, buying time while still letting us make mana through our creatures. Thousand year is less intuitive, but it increases the chances of turning a non-infinite ascendancy loop into an infinite one by booming out creatures who can produce more than one mana an activation, as well as increasing the value of excellent creatures like Selvala and Jace's Archivist . It can also reduce user error by getting a draw trigger at instant speed to protect Life from the Loam. Kynaios and Tiro of Meletis is the choice simply because of colors, and because he acts as an Explore on turn 3 or 4 that you can play from the command zone. I haven't tested with any Partner configurations yet, so a sudden change in the deck might be imminent. Thanks for checking out what might be the newest viable combo archetype in edh, even if it's a fairly terrible list!
