Mono-black Zendikar block constructed.

All of the decks in the "Ages of Despair" folder were me just fooling around, trying to learn about each block's black cards by building a deck out of them. I mostly didn't take cost or rarity into account. A few of the blocks that are geared around multicolor (Invasion, Ravnica, etc) already used black cards when I was making the blue decks, so I didn't revisit those.

Blood Tribute and Gatekeeper of Malakir destroy creatures and vampires equipped with Blade of the Bloodchief get stronger because o of it. Usually, it's Vampire Nighthawk, who flies and has lifelink. Bloodhusk Ritualist and Blood Seeker are early vampires, and the latter helps pin-prick at people (the former can be used to force discards if it doesn't show up until later).

Once it starts get mana, the heavy hitters come out: Malakir Broodwitch drains life, Anowon, the Ruin Sage begins getting rid of the opponent's creatures. Butcher of Malakir makes sure all of the vampires stay living. Blood Tribute sucks out half the opponent's life.

This deck murdered the blue decks 16 out of 20 times, and regularly finished with 35-40 life.
