in terms of flavor, Demonic Appetite, in terms of artwork either Doom Blade or Swamp, and in terms of power I would say Carrion Feeder is underrated

Demonic Appetite will be put into the graveyard after the creature returns to your opponents control because it's no longer attached to a legal object.

An aura's "Enchant NN" ability defines the set of legal objects it can be attached to. If it's ever attached to an illegal object then it's put into the graveyard as a state-based action. In your example the "Enchant creature you control" ability on Demonic Appetite means you're only allowed to cast it targeting a creature you control and it can only be attached to a creature you control. If something happens to make you lose control of the creature Demonic Appetite is attached to, it will fall off.

@Boza, cdkime: It's usually best to avoid going into detail about things that don't actually matter to the question. It just introduces more confusion.

It is best to link the cards you are discussing by putting their name in between [ [] ] (sans spaces):

Demonic Appetite , Act of Treason

"so we all know that if you gain control of an enchanted or equipped creature you do not also gain control of the auras or equipment attached to that creature. Instead those cards stay on your opponent's side of the field." - that is wrong on multiple accounts.

The battlefield has no sides, it is all one zone, so the placing of the cards is only done to accurately represent information. In theory, you can put every permanent in a single pile and the game would not care at all.

Additionally, if you gain control of a creature, the auras/equipment on it go with the creature. You do not control them, your opponent still does, but they go with the creature and your opponent will have to reequip to a different creature if they want to use their own equipment.

Demonic Appetite is no different. Regardless of who controls the creature the aura will trigger on its controller's upkeep (in this case, you) and make them sac a creature.

Nice deck! Shadow Rift , Aqueous Form and Distortion Strike might be good alternatives for Ghostform , as they're cheaper and all have other potential advantages. Also, Demonic Appetite and Vampire's Bite might be nice as an alternative to Unstable Mutation if you happen to not draw it at the right time. Could potentially replace Supernatural Stamina , Carrion Feeder or Vapor Snag ? Especially Carrion Feeder doesn't seem all that useful, as this deck doesn't seem to have all that many weak creatures to sacrifice. You might also consider one additional Dark Ritual to get those Mortis Dogs out as early as possible.

Fellas, I need some help in trying to make this Turn 1 Win Scenario work... See below:

Starting Hand On the Play: Swamp, Dark Ritual, Lotus Petal, Tainted Strike, Demonic Appetite, Reckless Charge, any card. Swamp cracks D.R. for the 3 mana, use one to play Rakdos Cackler (the Commander), one to play Demonic Appetite (gives Cackler 5 P/T). Use Lotus Petal to play Reckless Charge (8 P/T) and, upon attacking, play Tainted Strike to deliver 9 points of Infect damage. Clearly this doesn't win the game but there HAS to be a way to get that last tick of poison we need in 7 cards, right?

first of all:

modern is a fast format. 5 and 4 mana spells or abilities that are 3 colored, like you have, are not likely to even hit the battlefield because you'll die before it even happens (in most cases). if those 5 & 4 drops are not important to you, i suggest removing them from the deck, and putting creatures like Bile Urchin, Bloodbriar, Bloodflow Connoisseur, Bontu the Glorified, Child of Thorns , Corpse Hauler, Doomed Necromancer, Frostling, Mortician Beetle

spells like Altar's Reap, Bone Splinters, Collateral Damage, Crack the Earth, Eldritch Evolution, Fling, Footsteps of the Goryo, Infernal Plunge, Plunge into Darkness

noncreature permanents like Demonic Appetite, Evolutionary Leap, Quest for the Gravelord

and sideboarding Boggart Forager

i'll keep searching for you tomorrow, hope this helps for now
