Constellations shone in full magnitude against the black backdrop of night like light escaping from behind a pierced sheet. The moon was new and only it's edge smoldered a deep amber while the rest faded in with night. The ambience of the cemetery was light. The air was summer chilled, owls hooted in the canopy above, prey animals ate cautiously on the ground below and footsteps could barely be made out in the otherwise silence. Leather shoe soles scraped lightly against stone as they descended a narrow staircase leading into a jet black tomb. The tomb stood ominously in the dark, a simple rectangular structure with an angled roof. A gnarled gargoyle protruded from the awning, a protector who all that entered must pass. "Intrabit, umbrahidden, occultatum, tenebris." The incantation was whispered as a hand of glory was produced from the acolytes robe. The pickled hand of a hanged man that had been dipped in wax with wicks sticking out of each fingertip like a candelabra was held upright. "Lux en praesidium o secreto." The wicks crackled and sparked, putrid smoke tendrils disintegrated and flames that burned black grew from them. Like the moon above, only the rich golden outline of the flame could be made out.
