In my effort to find and build novel and atypical strategies not usually seen in commander, I decided to try to build a Birthing Pod - themed deck. Initially, I had intended to try it using a commander I had always been tangentially interested in: Meren of Clan Nel Toth. Limiting our card choices to Golgari colors was an intentional choice, but I soon realized that leaving out Blue omitted the Pod-in-the-Command-Zone, Prime Speaker Vannifar as well as the very efficient Neoform. In a Rule 0 fantasy land, I wouldn't hestitate to slap these two together as Partners, but in keeping with having a technically legal deck, I united the both of them under Yarok, the Desecrated.

In line with a typical Yarok deck, most of our creatures have useful ETB abilities. The only difference is we have to pay closer attention to our mana values, because our Pod-Engine likes a smooth curve to work effectively.
