The deck isn't a traditional Azami, Lady of Scrolls control deck, mainly because I love combo.

I decided to look through my old rare binder and use my knowledge of the Banned/Restricted list in eternal formats from back in the day. That's why you see things like Grim Monolith + Power Artifact with a useful mana dump in Ambassador Laquatus. It also has newer (to me) things like Omniscience + Show and Tell in order to do very degenerate things.

However, this deck isn't the fastest combo (i.e. 5 color Hermit Druid) and can also have a rough time against a fast aggro deck (i.e. Krenko, Mob Boss). I do feel as though this is a more stable combo as it does have a decent time against a more controlling deck like Grand Arbiter Augustin IV or Talrand, Sky Summoner. I have built a deck or two that would probably give it a rough time as I specifically had beating my own creation in mind when I built them.

The land count is a tad lower than the average commander deck, mainly because of the mana rocks and cantrips that are in the deck. I'll usually keep a hand with 3 land and roll with it if it is moderately playable. The last tournament I attended was 2HG random partner commander and the most degenerate game I played was with a starting hand of 4 lands, Sol Ring, Grim Monolith, and Fabricate. Once I was able to play Alhammarret's Archive, it goldfished on turn 4 (thanks to our opponents playing both Windfall that netted me 10 cards and Rites of Flourishing which allowed me to play a Temple of the False God and have it active on turn 4). A hand of 2 lands is very risky unless you have a good cantrip or two in hand (Preordain and Impulse come to mind).

My friend recently built this same deck and our lists vary by two cards now (Paradoxical Outcome and Jace, Vryn's Prodigy   to be exact) and he recently came across an infinite mana combo I didn't even see in the deck with bouncing Grim Monolith + Mana Vault via Tidespout Tyrant. It's a deck that seems to take some time to pilot correctly and I feel it is very rewarding as it can be quite complex.

The only future change I plan on making is probably taking out Dream Halls for a Rhystic Study. However, I'm open to ideas and hope people find this deck enjoyable, even if it can be both a pain and joy to pilot.
