Sideboard


I prefer having one Commander. I liked the card Silas Renn from C16 and have never built an Artifact deck before. I know they tend to be very fast and consistent - so I decided to build casually and play competitively, which is the motto of Commander. So I went a different route than most artifact decks - to keep it casual, I made it Dimir artifacts, chose a casual general, did not partner it to exclude access to other colors or strategies, and then decided to play artifacts I like or that would augment my commander, with a Voltron strategy in mind. The idea is to take a relative weak, casual general like Silas Renn, and power him up with keywords and P/T to take out opponents. Voltron suits Silas Renn, because he can recover more equipment, ramp or evasion artifacts to further the Voltron goal. A favorite of mine is to create Thopters for Time Sieve or Mechanized Production, as sub-strategies.
