EDIT: This deck should have worked fine - solid theme, coherent identity, lots of answers, etc. However, its plays were never very impressive, and it just...never ended the game. There were no game-winning threats, so it was no fun to play. It has been disassembled, and many of its components found new homes in several of my other decks. It remains here on TappedOut in case I ever decide to remake/upgrade it, and as a memorial to my follies of the past.

For my other decks, I've written long and detailed explanations, but since I haven't played with this one too much, I can't here.

This deck is made to abuse value, and slowly drain life. Many creatures have good ETB or dies abilities. A clever opponent won't let me get them back. In this case, Athreos reads "Whenever a creature dies, target opponent loses three life"...a powerful ability on its own. An even more clever opponent won't let them die in the first place, so I need many sacrifice outlets.

It is better in multiplayer, where I can target an opponent with low life totals. Or in a game where I have a friend/ally willing to give me back everything, which can be absolutely brutal.

I included a very large number of removal spells because I'm playing with tiny creatures, so I can't otherwise destroy large creatures. Any board wipe becomes massive value, because often I will get tokens off of the creatures dying (for instance, from Field of Souls ) and my opponents will be forced to pay life to keep all my creatures dead - if they don't, I get to reestablish my board state the following turn, while everyone else's battlefield is empty.

Comments greatly appreciated, of any kind: strategy, card choices, questions, synergies I've missed. It's one of my newer decks so I haven't tuned it yet, nor bought all of the cards I want to include.
