Sorcery (1)

A mid-budget mizzix storm deck that is moderately competitive.

The main goal of the deck is to go infinite. To do this there is a ton of draw and a dozen counterspells. Things like Isochron Scepter and Dramatic Reversal are easily searchable from a Fabricate, Muddle the Mixture, and Merchant Scroll. A better use for merchant scroll would be to search for Firemind's Foresight. The ideal 3 cards to tutor are Reiterate, Reality Spasm, and Fall of the Titans. Fall is the only X-burn spell in the deck, because you only want to see it when you have infinite (normally). Also it is the only X-burn spell in the game that is an instant and has a cmc of 1, which is great for foresight. Asides from those go-to combos, you just need to set up mizzix and not die.

There is a decent amount of non-counter removal in cards like Capsize, Cyclonic Rift, Vandalblast, etc. I like running both vandalblast and By Force simply because it increases the odds of having artifact removal.

Another focus of the deck is 2-drop mana-rocks. Because Mizzix is a 4-drop commander, you dont want to have a lot of 3-drop rocks. It makes it more difficult to get her out a turn early. Even if they enter tapped (which several of them do) you can still get out Mizziz on turn 3 if you play a rock and the table doesn't have an answer.

This leads to my final point. Mizzix is scary. Even when there is a tazri food chain deck at the table, mizzix has her own breed of fear that comes from playing against her. People will target her (and you) most of the time unless there is a deck that is really flexing. Mizzix can get some crazy come-from-behind victories, but that means people are wary of come-from-behind victories. Only play things when you can get away with it, or if you desperately need to establish some kind of board presence. Things like vedalken orrery are a must. I have used fabricate to search orrery instead of isochron scepter many times.

My last piece of advice for the deck is to read the table. Dont try to solitaire the games. You will be focused HARD. Wait until turn 15 if you need to. Just make sure to storm at the right time.

Please leave comments and suggestions to improve. I just ordered some cards to improve it and will update this list when I've made the edits.
