CURRENT DECK This is my favorite deck! It's also my most powerful. It's an aggressive creature control strategy inspired by "Evil Adam" on MTG Muddstah's YouTube channel. There is no infinite combo or stax cards, and the deck wins with creature combat alone.

The deck abuses Derevi's tap-untap ability to accrue value. Here's how it works:

1) Let's say I deal combat damage with 5 creatures while Derevi is in play ---> 5 triggers are put on the stack saying "tap or untap target permanent." In this case, I choose to untap my Simic Growth Chamber 5 times.

2) Before the first trigger resolves, each player can respond by casting spells or activating abilities. I choose to respond to my own trigger by tapping my Simic Growth Chamber for 2 mana. The first trigger resolves untapping my land.

3) Now before the second trigger resolves each player can respond once again. I respond by tapping my Simic Growth Chamber for 2 mana. Now I have 4 mana floating in my mana pool. The second trigger resolves untapping my land.

4) Each trigger resolves in this fashion until I untap my land the fifth and final time. I now have 10 mana floating in my mana pool.

5) Before mana pools empty by moving to the next phase of the turn, players have an opportunity to cast spells and activate abilities. I cast Stroke of Genius targeting myself to draw 7 cards.

This is the basic way I can abuse Derevi. By generating lots of token creatures, I can attack and trigger Derevi's ability many times. By responding to each trigger with an activated ability, I can do some pretty awesome things. I can generate a lot of mana with Market Festival , and spend that mana drawing cards with Azure Mage or Sphinx's Revelation , generating tokens with Sacred Mesa or powering up my creatures with Shalai, Voice of Plenty . But wait there's more! Even without large amounts of mana, I can draw cards with Azami, Lady of Scrolls , destroy creatures with Intrepid Hero , bounce opposing nonland permanents with Galecaster Colossus , and generate tokens with Squirrel Nest and Myr Turbine . AND THERE'S STILL MORE! I won't go into every interaction but you can do cute things like tap down opponent creatures so other opponents can attack them, tap opponent lands to mess up their plans, untap your lands for your own counterspells, untap your creatures to block with, and so much more.

The deck is looking to generate a critical mass of creatures to trigger Derevi's ability. The cards that really shine are the one's that snowball with Derevi like Sacred Mesa , Coastal Piracy , True Conviction , and Seedborn Muse . I once had a Sacred Mesa out and not much board to concern my opponents. I dropped a Seedborn Muse and during each opponent's turn I could generate 3 Pegasus tokens. By the time it was my turn again I had 10 flying creatures to trigger Derevi with, and I did, untapping a 2-mana producing land 10 times to generate 20 mana, creating 10 more Pegasus tokens. I passed the turn, all my mana untapped and I had my Counterspell and Heroic Intervention to keep me safe. Good times.
