BUILD AN EMPIRE WITH YOUR AMBITION

Commander: Sidisi, Brood Tyrant .

This is the Sidisi deck I have been running for a couple months... just finally got around to posting. This is the deck's most current form, and although I do tend to make card-to-card changes between matches, it doesn't undergo many major modifications; this list is the bulk of what I play week to week. I love, LOVED the Sultai in Dragons of Tarkir, and so this is my dedication to that clan; I try to pick cards that suit the strategy as well as the theme.

If you play with Sidisi, you know she is a very resilient commander. If you play against Sidisi, she likely pisses you off.

If you're thinking about playing Sidisi, DO :)

This list has many strengths. The primary win-con being to overrun the opponent with zombies via self-mill and heavy-hitting creatures, with the milling of our opponents providing an alternate win con. The deck has nice recursion synergies, and is at its strongest when there is a semi-permanent/reliable self-mill strategy in place to provide a constant stream of zombies - chiefly from Sidisi, Brood Tyrant making her the engine powering the whole factory.

This deck is terrific at adjusting to different threats in place on the board. In a game with 3 opponents, it's quite plausible for this deck to finish one person off only with zombies, and when ganged-up on, can switch strategy towards aggressively milling another player, whilst defending / attacking where necessary. It answers a variety of deck threats by being able to go wide, attack the enemies resources in the library, as well as being able to deny players' access to their own graveyards. The Sultai are about finding and using resources wherever they can, whether it be in-hand, the graveyard, or the battlefield, making them distinctively B/U/G.

    • Sidisi, Brood Tyrant is the big one. Her ability to make tokens enables the strategy of the deck, and alongside the self mill, really gets bonkers.
    • Empty the Pits - such a powerful card. A late game sweeper, this card can be cast for huge amounts of mana, especially alongside Crypt of Agadeem . Hitting upwards of 20 2/2 tokens isn't farfetched. Also Army of the Damned . Very strong. Even if milled into our library, we can still cast it. Timing is everything, however. This is a sorcery, unlike Pits, so be confident that your opponent is out of answers. From Under the Floorboards is always cast for its madness cost, just as Josu Vess, Lich Knight should never be cast without getting a big mucky boot.
    • Undead Alchemist Awesome card that demands answering. Our zombie tokens can start milling our opponents, and create more zombies!! This is one card that can get opponents very nervous. Suddenly, all that life gain they've accumulated is not going to answer the mystery of the missing library. We need to make sure we have recursion as well to make certain we can keep Undead Alchemist on the battlefield. This card not only creates it's own zombies, but if played right, can supply a win-con late game.
    • Pharika, God of Affliction Best played disrupting others' graveyards, as play din response, her ability can also provide political leverage against other players. Her position on the field also means people will think twice about attacking us, especially since they know they'll have to trade potentially one of their best creatures with a pathetic 1/1 deathtoucher.
  1. Lastly, if we do any exiling of creatures from our graveyard, Desecrated Tomb means we still get something for it. This synergises very well with Misthollow Griffin and Torrent Elemental , who can be cast repeatedly from Exile.

With Sidisi's token generating ability, we want to be milling ourselves and consistently hitting creatures in order to get zombies.

  1. Sidisi, Brood Tyrant , Splinterfright , Sultai Ascendancy gives us library manipulation + the ability make zombies. Sultai Soothsayer works well for the same reason. Taigam, Sidisi's Hand manipulates our library and provides good card advantage for this deck. Corpse Connoisseur gives us selection for the graveyard.

  2. Tasigur, the Golden Fang alongside Delve, can help fix which of our permanents return to the field, , and Deadbridge Chant Mills us, and also provides us with card recursion. Really good at creatures out on the field, and gets bonkers really quickly. Champion of Stray Souls is a boss. If he is not answered, your opponents are peanuts, and Havengul Lich is possibly even better.

  3. Sidisi creates Zombies, but so do our Endless Ranks of the Dead and Empty the Pits , and From Under the Floorboards . Gisa and Geralf and The Scarab God kick arse. Cleverly planning an instant speed Empty the Pits before your turn can swing the fight, and a well-planned boost from Decimator of the Provinces gets that lethal damage through.

An alternate win-con of the deck is our ability to mill our opponents with brutal efficiency.

  1. Traumatize Half the deck. Word. Also, Altar of the Brood , Undead Alchemist , Increasing Confusion , Geralf's Mindcrusher means our creatures are library chewing monsters.

  2. Fleet Swallower is legitimately very underrated.

  3. Shout out here to Undercity Informer . Actually an amazing card. Works really well in this deck, as he have plenty of fodder thanks to Sidisi. And also shout out to the Dimir from RtR and Dragon's Maze: Consuming Aberration hits hard and mills harder.

  4. Turning all your Zombies into Mill Machines using Undead Alchemist is a proven winner.

  5. Some other good synergies include: Altar of the Brood + Ghastly Conscription , Plus Altar of the Brood + Empty the Pits / Army of the Damned

If you have any suggestions I'd love to hear some. There's always cards I haven't come across yet. And if you have any suggestions for what to remove from the Mainboard for those cards in the Maybeboard, please share. Also, I'd love any ideas to Get some more 'GREEN' into the deck- any cool green cards you can think of that may belong here, please let me know.
