Soul Swallower Discussion

I'd suggest that cutting 1 gear hulk would be fine. It's an expansive creature and with two of them in your hand it might be too much.

Vines of the Recluse doesn't seem to work very well, its basically just Blossoming Defense with reach instead of hexproof. I'd suggest playing more of the Blossoming defence.

Ornamental Courage just seems out of place, sure it's nice to have to untap but it won't do you a lot of good in the long run.

Heroic Intervention you might want to have a couple of more of these instead of Vines of the Recluse or Ornamental Courage.

Highspire Infusion same as above it's a much better card then Vines or Ornamental.

Servant of the Conduit gives you mana fixing but only playing green it's useless. Same goes for Attune with Aether.

For the energy counters you receive with all your cards you don't have good payoff cards for the energy. So for a budget I'd suggest Longtusk Cub, Bristling Hydra, Architect of the Untamed.

Your sideboard only is allowed to use 15 cards. So you need to cut some (suggesting Soul Swallower. You can change Root Out with Appetite for the Unnatural it's a bit better since it's an instant. Jaddi Offshoot might be good in your sideboard against aggro decks.

Skywhaler's Shot can be pretty good for removing big threats like The Gitrog Monster and Soul Swallower. Also Stasis Snare and To the Slaughter do a good job also.

Soul Swallower or Inexorable Blob might be good 3/4 drops to try out =)

First off, Appetite for Brains isn't standard legal, so I would take those out if you plan on playing standard, buy a great alternative is Harsh Scrutiny which You are also playing. Some other great creatures that work in delirium decks are creatures like Soul Swallower and Inexorable Blob. If you have delirium active, then these cards can deal massive amounts of damage if they're not dealt with. I hope these recommendations helped and I would also note that you have 61 cards.

Let me try and address two questions in one reply:

Jimbotten I don't have this tagged as competitive mostly because it was never built for it. Way before B/G Delirium was seeing tournament play I just made a deck once I saw the cards spoiled for SOI. I saw some pretty powerful synergy which was made even better after Eldritch moon cough cough Grim Flayer. Fortunately I grabbed these guys almost immediately after they came out so they were like $6-8. I never thought these cards were going to match up against usual "meta" decks and I kind of just built the deck I wanted to play regardless of power. Also if I were going to play this competitively I would probably being playing Emrakul, the Promised End and I would not be playing Ulvenwald Hydra.

HoldFast I absolutely have played Soul Swallower! I absolutely loved the card when it came out but I became frustrated that it was always instantly removed, seldom getting the chance to grow. It has one me a fair share of matches by becoming an absolute monster, but a 4 mana 3/3 that takes some time to get going was proved to just be removal bait.
