Dread Slaver Discussion

Neotrup on Burning Anger + Deathtouch?

Also, yes, Dread Slaver's return to the battlefield ability will trigger, because it does not specify that it had to deal combat damage. You will get the Avatar of Might.

Let's say I play Burning Anger on a creature that has Deathtouch, and use the ability to deal damage to another creature - will Deathtouch trigger and destroy that creature?

The rules say: "Deathtouch (Any amount of damage this deals to a creature is enough to destroy it.)" It doesn't say that damage had to be combat damage.

Scenario: Player A plays Dread Slaver, Player A plays Burning Anger on that Dread Slaver, then Player A plays Aspect of Gorgon on the same Dread Slaver, finally Player A taps Dread Slaver to deal damage to Player B's Avatar of Might. -Will the damage destroy Avatar of Might, then return it to the battlefield under Player A's control?

Mr_Radical Thanks for the sweet suggestions. I found a supper troll combo that involves Chandra's Ignition, Basilisk Collar/Coat with Venom and Dread Slaver which wipes the board and put them all on ur side. Thanks for the help. BTW ur deck is sweet as well.

Metallic Mimic pairs well with Adaptive Automaton

Ascendant Evincar seems too expensive but not terriblesame with Dread Slaver

Helldozer is slow, but if he comes online he seems legit. you'll probably need to test him out in your meta.

Lightning Greaves>Swiftfoot Bootsif you can afford em.Graf Harvest>Cover of Darkness

Scourge of Nel Toth is just too expensive for my taste, but hey he is a flyin' Zombie..I could see it getting cut in favor of a more efficient card.

Diabolic Tutormy least favorite tutor, should be replaced by a more efficient one, like Vampiric TutorDemonic TutorBeseech the QueenRune-Scarred Demonor any other one. There are probably 8 more I can't think of right now. BtQ being one of the budget option.

Forced Marchseems like there are better board wipe options, especially since this pretty much guaranties killing all Z's. Toxic DelugeDamnationLife's FinalePlague Wind

Jet Medallion> Mind Stoneor another rando rock

remove Smother for kill with life gain like Consuming Vapors.

good valueVictimizeGempalm PolluterWithered Wretch

Auto ins;Cabal CoffersCemetery ReaperLord of the UndeadCryptbreakerFleshbag Marauderthere are same dude with different names tooCorpse HarvesterZombie Master

You have a lot of life loss but I am not seeing life gain, consider cards like Whip of ErebosExquisite Bloodor any other cards that have lifelink tacked on them.

that should give you some options to trade for. I would also check out the other Gisa lists on EDHREC for ideas, she is a very popular commander. Have Fun :)

Ok! Let's begin with my usual disclaimer: I'm making all suggestions without regard to budget, since I don't know what you're working with. If you've got a particular upper limit (that eliminates most of the cards I suggest) that you want me to consider, let me know and I'll come back.

I'd be really pushing hard in the Zombie theme of this deck, given it's power. A non-zombie creature has to be really amazing to warrant a spot, or at least produce zombies a la Kalitas, and while Crypt Ghast fits the bill, Ascendent Evincar really doesn't. It's a small buff for a big price, and you can't recast him with your commander. Similarly, Paragon of Open Graves should probably go, and Wonder should probably go.

If exchange, here are some quality zombies to consider:

Undead Alchemist - it makes your guys mill rather than deal damage, but for every creature card that hits a graveyard, you get another zombie.
Apprentice Necromancer - not only is he a zombie, he reanimates more zombies for you! Plus, he only makes you sacrifice on end step, so you can keep reanimating as long as you want!
Noxious Ghoul - works as a mini-board wipe for your opponents, particularly if you're able to drop multiple zombies per turn.
Cryptbreaker - another zombie that makes more zombies, it also provides a huge source of card advantage once you've got enough zombies.
Dread Slaver - why only play with your creatures when you can play with everyone else's too?
Graveborn Muse - be careful, because she can easily end up killing you. But still, that's a TON of cards, and who even cares if you have to discard, amirite?
Havengul Runebinder - alright, you caught me, this guy's not a zombie. But he makes zombies! And makes all your zombies permanently bigger! By as much as you want!
Liliana, Heretical Healer  Flip - Another non-zombie. But if you can protect her (spoiler - you can!) and she ults, you'll have zombies for days. FOR DAYS. ZOMBIES. FOR DAYS.
Lim-Dul the Necromancer - What? Still MORE non-zombies? But this guy lets you keep your zombies around, AND lets you steal other people's stuff. Seems good.

So here's the thing. Conspiracy doesn't do much, even if you DON'T drop all the non-zombies I mentioned. It alters a handful of creatures in a not-super meaningful way - I mean, they get the buffs your regular zombies enjoy, but the non-zombies aren't really being run for their combat skills, but that their abilities.

Instead, try Endless Ranks of the Dead. You'll love it.

Also, Grave Pact and Greed (or Erebos, God of the Dead). Quality cards.

Have you considered Dread Slaver? I found a combo of that, Touch of Moonglove and Chandra's Ignition to be hilarious

I think I'd keep Dread Slaver He matches where you are going the best. I like Indulgent Tormentor cause he can help you draw your combo. Archfiend of Depravity just cause he is cool but really you don't need many big fatties if you focus on just killing everything they have.

4x Thornbite Staff Viridian Longbow then the rest deathtouch or "tap and something dies" creatures.

Typhoid Rats is a good add. Turn one rats. turn two equip. They have a big problem.

Would cut:

4x Lashwrithe

2x Loxodon Warhammer

4x Consume Spirit

2x Dark Salvation

4x Diabolic Tutor

2x Praetor's Grasp

3x Liliana's Reaver

1x Massacre Wurm

3x Mortivore

1x Ob Nixilis, Unshackled

Fun optional adds:

King Macar, the Gold-Cursed

Illusionist's Bracers

Thousand-Year Elixir
