Sideboard

Creature (1)

Big creatures and graveyard recursion. Who doesn't love graveyard play? This is for casual gameplay with friends on a budget.

Sideboard Triskelion to BRRRT those that need a lesson using Mikaeus, the Unhallowed Undying abillity.

Update:

There are a few things we need for this deck to synergize. We need Meren of Clan Nel Toth on the field quick as we can get her there. If she is not on the field then when our creatures die, we miss out on experience counters that are our bread and butter. These experience counters we receive from Meren's ability make everything we need possible. It is also important to remember the very last part of Meren's text which says if you cannot put a creature to the field, instead put it to your hand. Many people miss this part in gameplay, do not be that person.

After we have Meren on the field we need to give her some protection Saryth, the Viper's Fang or Lightning Greaves will help. Our opponents will be trying to remove her from play if they know what's best. We also need to dig out some creatures from the deck when we can like Spore Frog or Thrashing Brontodon. The Spore Frog, if not immediately exiled, will give us many turns of safety from combat damage and will give our opponents something to target while we continue building our board state. Since Spore Frog is only one green mana, if we can start the game out early with it in play, we can sacrifice it on our turn, get the experience counter, and at our end step return it from the graveyard and back onto the battlefield using Meren's ability. The Thrashing Brontodon will keep our opponents field in check for any mana rocks or annoying enchantments like Rhystic Study. We need only sacrifice the Spore Frog a few times and now we have the experience counters to put out the Thrashing Brontodon on each of our End Steps to the dismay of our opponents.

Sakura-Tribe Elder will help us get those experience counters we need and also give us a lead in lands on the field.

Now normally we would want to protect our creatures from destruction, but for this type of deck style we might end up intentionally trying to kill our own creatures to get those oh so sweet experience points. It can be comical when we are actually asking our opponents to kill our creatures and they are flat out refusing. Once we get the necessary experience points though, this is where we start rotating creatures from our graveyard to the battlefield and possibly back to the graveyard and...you get the idea.

Old Stickfingers entering the battlefield will dump some creatures into our graveyard for us to bring right back out later. Protean Hulk will help us find those creatures we need to get things interesting. Use Viscera Seer and Woe Strider to continuously sacrifice these creatures and return them to the field with Meren's ability at our end step.

It really puts the damper on our competition when they see something like Mikaeus, the Unhallowed get brought into the mix. Undying will let us play this decks creatures ETB abilities like a symphony.

Make sure to toss in some control like Return to Nature and Hero's Downfall as we can't have our opponents running around freely doing what they want. Let them know you've got answers to their indestructible nonsense when you cast Black Sun's Zenith, and don't fret about our creatures as they will be back as fast as an overplayed song on the radio.

Ideas for the deck to improve would be to look for interesting ETB effects on creatures. Find ways of not solely relying on the commander in the event the opposition can keep her off the battlefield. Watch out for graveyard control or graveyard exile, don't put creatures there if we think our opponents are eyeballing it too much.

If I could, I would put Homeward Path in every single creature deck I build. It's useful against those decks that take our toys from us.

As always, keep things fun. We want people to play with us and have a great time too. If you get invited to a someone's place for games, be the person that brings the snacks!
